I'm going to be in Japan Oct 2-5, and my girlfriend really wants to see a match, even if it's amateur. I'm having a hard time finding information. Any info will help. It doesn't matter where there's a match, as long as we can see one in our time there.

if you cant get tickets for a match, your next bet is waking up really early and going to one of the sumo stables to watch the guys practice. you just have to call them a day or two in advance. apparently its a great way to see the wrestlers.

when i was in tokyo, i stayed at the k's house hostel and they took care of the reservations. i didnt give them enough notice time so i couldnt go, but it sounds super interesting. just google tokyo sumo practice, and you should get lots of hits.

the "good" seats range from $200 and up, i believe.

upper seats will cost about $80 per person.

it looks like the popular seats sell-out fast, and only take reservations in japanese (at least in my area).

rehersal might be the best & cheapest....

In Tokyo take the Chuo-Sobu line to Ryogoku station, that's where the national sumo stadium is (in Sumida-ku).
