Social justice is an undefined platitude that masks the desire for total state ("community") control over all private actions. The "personal is political" etc etc. It is a thoroughly totalitarian concept.
All we have to go on with "left" political movements is the actions of past movements with similar ideologies. Again, if you want to paint these with "humanity" you have a steep hill to climb. |
ok, troll, am signing off now - when someone who knows absolutely nothing at all about social justice movements starts making such idiotic statements on a thread which tries to define liberals as arrogant, well, really, there's just no hope for you or anyone else who wants to remain so hypocritcal, close minded and ignorant. |

Oh look - now you've done it. You've gone and pissed her off. Nice. What fun is the discussion when there's nobody around (who matters) to take issue with your position? Call her back.... |

Why don't you try and understand the other side's philosophy instead of just hurling foolish insults. Classical liberals aren't conservative for one. Also, try and ignore the traditional left/right dichotomy. The dichotomies that many classical liberals/libertarians see is one between the free individual and the coerced collective. To me, you seem to support the latter all in this quixotic quest for your version of morality and social justice. |

whatever for? |
I realize it was a rhetorical question, but I'll answer it anyway: it might make us actually read your posts. Instead you come across as a drama queen. Such behavior is why some people cringe when hearing the word liberal.
Most of Pluto's post is a more articulate description of what I mean.
Edit 1: added last sentence.
Edit 2: corrected typo.

Which actions of past movements with similar ideologies would you be referring to? I can guess, but I'd like to hear (see) your answer, which, I suspect, would be quite different to the things moosehead thinks of when referring to 'social justice'.
I'd ask moosehead what they mean by social justice too, but they've left. |

| You can take your pick. From the psychotic year zero project of the KR in Cambodia, to Stalin, Mao and legions of leftist terrorists in history up to now. Or, even the latest round, led by Chavez. The anarchists in Spain, Castro, the Norks... It goes on and on. Lula is a huge exception. |
