youngsan, the big dept store beside the subway/train stop in seoul.

i got mine there 2 weeks ago, then paid an extra 100k to have it chipped

some places charge 80k but they said they were too busy to do it

they guy who did mine was decent, go to the games floor, think thats 5th floor not sure look around all of the stall and ask first, the guy who did mine spoke decent english, after that they sell games for 10k each he sold english ones too, and if its korean he will also stick in a chip or whatever which means its region free

enjoy

Can we confirm the chip works with Mario cart and Smash bros? Those games had added protection because they were big titles.

Anyone?

I can't confirm they work on a Korean version..

But the PAL version of Mario Kart wii works fine on my Canadian wii (modded). The online play works great too.

Actually SSBB works fine too (but was a bitch to burn)

i can confirm that they do work. At least Mario kart works, I have a copy of a pal version i bought from there. I aint got smash brothers though it was being sold there in english.

Again take it to that guy in Youngsan dept store games floor, near far right corner.

100k for him to chip it, takes about 20 mins, then he will put some other chip in it, free, which makes it region free.

then his games are 10k each, lots of games all different regions, make sure you get the pal or american versions of the games though, as i think they sell copies of all different regions.

There is no separate chip to make it region free. It is the same chip, but they need to turn it on through the chips software.

You can always buy dvd's and if you have a burner you can burn them yourself. If you do this, I would recommend buying SSBB because it is a bitch to burn.

I am not 100% sure why it is hard to burn, but there are LOTS of info on the net about that game. I heard it was because the laser in the wii isn't really great with dual layer'ed dvd's. Also, the dvd break has to be PERFECT. I wasted 3-4 dvd's until one finally worked. I had no problems downloading and burning regular games.

I never bought any games. I downloaded and burnt about 20-25 with only 1 issue (SSBB)..

Yea, I need to know this too!

I just convinced my wife that we're going to go get this done for our wii tomorrow. It's a Korean wii.

What's the difference between a modded Korean Wii and a Japanese Wii chipped with a wiikey?
