Gist;
Metrosexual Fad is a Boon for Retailers.
Male Consumers Invade Traditional Women's Markets.
Korean Men in Grip of Plastic Surgery Craze

Metrosexual are everywhere. There's nothing cuter than Korean men in super snug jeans, mega tight pink Ts, bitching bracelets, flamboyant body language, rainbow-colored bandanas around neck and bling bling.

Oh and thank you for pointing out there's are users here who think MANbags are awesome.

First of all, SEINFELD is the best sitcom of ALL TIME! Everything Seinfeld, DA MAN 2 says is TRUE. This is not about keeping with the times or having an open mind. MANbags reek! Even from a practiacal point of view, they SUCK! Oh I ca fit my ipod, cam, wallet, make-up, GQ mag or whatnot into my MANbag......these words are not meat to go together!
SHAME ON YOU ALL MANBAG EMBRACERS!
Again, you are perpertuating a really really vicious circle!

The so-called "man-bag" started with New York bike messengers. It caught on with the general public for their practicality. Since then, just as with jeans, designers have started making their own for non-work purposes. While some may look a little effeminiate (sp?) the fact is that most of them do not.

Yes, they are stylish (I think so anyway), but they are also functional, and the form mostly follows that function. What's wrong with that?

From the start I've thought the whole metrosexual trend was simply companies expanding their market. Makers of generally feminine products realized there was nearly 50% of the population they weren't reaching.

Now men buy expensive skin creams, get manicures, use purses and buy all sorts of other things they never seemed to need before. I think a male tampon will be coming on the market before 2010.

Now that's better than a six bladed razor.

Wait, why are men that want to look fashionable and attractive called effeminate and metrosexual, while women who do the same thing are your avatars?

I mean, what, are women supposed to find men who have patchy side-burn growth, wear pants that don't fit properly, and carry their giant backpacks around to bars and clubs *hot*?

I mean if you're going to be a body fascist, you should at least realize that women you want are going to want you to look at least as hot/fancy/expensive as they do.

Take a look at the word "Manbag". It's like this word is insisting on being different from all other bags. It's a bag for men. What gives here? Why label it "manbag" if it's not outside the realm of male stereotypes?

It's like the companies behind these products are striving to be different. Using the "new" social order of Metrosexualism as a selling point. It just doesnt add up.

Metrosexualism comes from social changes and people use different outlets for self-expression, we all get that. But buying a MANbag, getting under the knife, wearing tight pink shirts and scarves is not cool nor brave or a new social evolution we should embrace. This is narcissism in all its glory. This is Korean dudes not understanding Korean women (they think Korean chix dig Manbags, ear rings and tight pink stuff), This is socially confused young Korean men more concerned about their looks than the forces behind Metrosexualism. Mass media is also to blame for what's happening here.

I agree. I love it when a guy fixes up his hair real nice, shaves completely and wears a fitted pair of jeans and a t-shirt to show that he actually has a good physique on him. Messenger/man bags look cleaner and neater than backpacks. I never trust guys with baggy pants and shirts. They're hiding something I may not want to see.

Masculine versus feminine: Keep these notions in mind, eh. One does not have to look like a girl to be well-dressed.

The thing is, most Korean metros are extremely effeminate.

I personally don't give a crap about what other people think of my appearance. I never want to be involved with a girl who is obsessed with how I look, either (I wear a hoodie on dates).

I keep things like weight and smell in check (for good reasons), and I get regular hair cuts. I also try not to dress like a complete retard. But beyond the obvious I don't understand or care about the allure of fashion and trendiness.

Anyone ever see Zoolander?

girls like effeminate guys about as much as guys like butchy girls. i have better luck at a bar when i'm unshaven, hungover, wearing dirty clothes, with three days of filth on me than when i actually try to look good.

the fashion industry is run by men who prey on women's insecurity. men who fall into this trap are even dumber than the women. men don't give a rat's ass about what women wear - we care about your BODY.
