|
|
I have lived in Korea now for about 2 months now, and so far I have just been soaking it all in.. I have neglected my meditations and spiritual practices. I have been trying to do research on where to go, but I have not come up with much. I was hoping to find people with common interests as me here, because the people I have met so far, as great as they are, just wanna go to a Western bar, and drink all the time.. I did plenty of that when living in America. |

Not sure what tradition you're looking for, but take a look at the Seoul Dharma Group website: http://seouldharmagroup.ning.com There are a bunch of different groups that get together to meditate and study. |

If you're ready for bhakti yoga, there's a Hare Krishna center in Nokshapyeong (not far from Itaewon.)
The congregation is mostly Indians, Bangladeshis, and Sri Lankans, but includes Koreans, and a few westerners.
I think they have a program every Sunday from 5 to 8pm - and extended a few hours later this Sunday for Krishna's birthday (August 24)

Other yoga and meditation groups sometimes meet there on Saturdays... |

I always thought you were a devotee when I saw that pic. Do they serve food at the meetings in Seoul. I might be moving up to Gyeonggi-do so I will attend some dinners. I am not a hare krishna but I lived on their farm in aus for six months and have many friends who are devotees. I didn't expect Iscon to be here in Korea. |

I know that in Insadong there is some kind of meditation exercise at this Seon type centre. I went there only once. It was nice enough. I sometimes like meditation, chanting, or silent meditation at home. I am not into Zen meditation. I prefer listening to some kind of beat or sound.... It is too bad in the Christian tradition the Gregorian chanting is not more open to the lay masses. It should be done. |

They serve vegetarian food (prasadam) near the end of their program every Sunday at the Seoul Hare Krishna center (which is located in a renovated basement.
The program runs from 5 - 8pm, so around 7 would be the best time to show up mainly just to eat - but it's usually crowded (mainly with Hindus and even Muslims)
I think they plan to open an Indian vegetarian restaurant near Itaewon - which would be great ...
