I am looking to work for Epic or a Poe, but I am 42 years old and would like to be near people from other countries such as America, Korea and any other country. I do not want to be talking to the walls. I also want to meet other ESL Teachers.

Ok, let me explain. I am looking to teach in the public schools in Korea,but I am looking for recommendations on where to live and work which will offer me a social life. What I mean by this is, I would like to be located near Seoul (45 minutes away) or another city near Seoul that offers me a chance to meet other teachers and people from America and other countries. In short have a life and places to go and people to meet.
I am not looking to live in Seoul or work for Smoe. What about Epic or a individual Poe? I understand Gepik does not give you a choice where you can live? I could be located in the middle of nowhere. I hope this clear s things up?

As far as I know, there are no foreign communities 45 minutes away from Seoul. Suwon Bundang or Ilsan maaaayyyybe?

From what I hear, there are a lot of friendly Korean gals in parts of Suwon.

Don't worry. Whities be everywhere. I live in Sunae, Bundang, 45 minutes from Seoul, and see more foreigners than i'd like. You'd have to go out of your way to isolate yourself from you fellow countrymen. If you ever get lonely just find a Wa Bar, they're everywhere.

Many places in Gyeonggi do are located within an hour of Seoul. Seoul is in the middle of the province. There are also many places in Gyeonggi do that are connected to the Seoul Subway. Which part of Seoul do you want to be close to? Why don't you want to live/work in Seoul? Last year I was in a place in Gyeonggi do that met your location requirement in terms of distance from Seoul (or at least the edge of Seoul). This year I am in Seoul itself (in northern Seoul) because it really is a better fit for me than where I was last year. I wanted to avoid a "big city" but am now living in a part of the city that for me does not feel like a "big" city but which has easy access to things that I want/need. If you can be clear on what is most important to you (what you want in the place you live) maybe we can help you find an area or areas which could meet what you want (either in or out of Seoul).

It is also not true that you cannot have any choice over GEPIK schools. Many of them end up advertising directly through recruiters ... so you can get a job with a specific school in a specific place. This is how I got my job last year. In all other respects we were still GEPIK teachers with the good and bad that goes with that.
