I wonder if any Texans have had their CHC sent to them here in Korea.
How long did the process actually take?

Surely there are other people who start a new job at the last minute and were here on the old visa laws...

Please help if you can...

Haus, just go to the DPS website and use your credit card and run a background check and then print it. Then, go to the embassy in Gwanghamun and sign an affidavit attesting to the fact that you have a good record and you are supposed to pay them around 30 bucks. The embassy won't look at the print out from DPS. Korean Immigration will do that.

yep, you're right... according to the korean immi site, they aren't acceptable... i'm from atlanta, and had to send a friend downtown atlanta with a notarized letter from me saying that it was okay with me if they got a copy of my cbr... she, in turn, had to send that back to me and then i'm off to the embassy again (first time for the notary stamp, now this) to get this affidavit thingee for k immi... renewing is turning out to be just as bad as it is for the fresh off the boaters...

worst part is, when i originally came over, i brought a cbr with me... i haven't been out of country, but they still want a new one... if i haven't been out of country, how could i incur any new crimes? it's a bit silly...

OP, I sent my Criminal background check and fingerprints to an ex-girlfriend who still lives in Texas. She sent it to DPS in Austin, got the check, and then sent it to another office in Austin to get the apostille, and then mailed it to me. Total time from mailing it to her to receiving it? About 2 months.
