Hi there.
I've hooked up a Samsung external monitor since my laptop one has a lot of dead pixels. My problem is that I can extend my monitor and see things by dragging screens over to it, but I can't change it so that my laptop monitor is off and the Samsung is the primary. I have a Dell Inspiron running XP. Can someone step me through this? Thanks in advance. |

Right click on your desktop to get the graphics properties and then the "settings" tab.
If the external monitor is connected then you should be able to see something like this :

Select the external monitor (most probably number 2) and make sure that "Extend my external window onto this monitor" is not toggled/selected.
Then select "Use the device as my primary monitor" (if it is number 2) and finally confirm with the "Apply" button and then "OK".
This should work every time Windows boot up. |
