I'm really starting to get pissed off. This is the third Korean cell phone I've owned. It's a Curitel S2M phone.
Once again, I've bought another phone and installed the PC software for that specific model (and completed the installation before plugging into the USB cable with the phone attached). Once again (just like my previous Korean phone, and the one before that) the PC won't recognize the phone.
Windows XP has always come up with a "새 하드웨어 발견" message as soon as I plug in the phone. It has done this on all three models of phones I've owned in Korea since I came here in 2006.
I have tried on at least five computers to set up these various phones.
I don't get it, why is it in Korea that no matter what phone you're using, no matter what Windows XP computer you try to install connection software for, the phone will never connect?
Why is it that when I go to the SK Telecom store and plug the phone into their kiosk, it recognizes my phone and lets me print pictures from it for 500 won a piece, without a single hitch?
Does anyone else have this problem? What causes it? Is the problem that I have a prepaid phone? |

Your usb cable might be fuggered.
Maybe your USB port is flaky.
You might be only allowing WhQl drivers to install,

I've tried three different cables (in fact, one of them I bought new last night).

I don't have any problems with any other USB peripherals, just Korean phones. Plus, I have tried this on probably five or six computers.

Since I've tried installing three different phones, you'd think I wouldn't repeat the same driver mistake with all three (and three different types of software).

Agreed. When I write a program, there are no bugs, because I'm careful. So why can't the cell phone driver manufacturers (who are professional, which I'm not) do the same thing? |

Yep especialy you..
Got nothing to input, then shut your hole.
Korea for me is a means to an end. I have no problem calling Korean made stuff trash, mainly because it is. Made in Taiwan FTW.
BTW. Phones here are locked they mess the firrmwares so they are locked up pretty tight and you are forced to use the trash software that come with their junk phones. Frustrating since my Razer back home worked perfectly with lots of different sync software but here I am forced to use the Korea garbage thats has shit forr a translation, barely works and it has a UI thats reminiscent of Windows 3.11 days. |

The phone companies do this sort of thing on purpose, so that they can advertise a feature (but it rarely works). They want you to end up using one of their pay options instead.
My previous phone was an LG phone which advertised it would play .mp3 files. When I tried loading them onto the smart card they wouldn't work. LG said it would only play their proprietary .mp3 files, which of course cost you for a download. Of course, this isn't something they care to tell you when you are buying the phone. You only see "mp3 compatible" on the ads. |

Then consider yourself lucky that Koreans are still so desperate for native speakers of English.
I'm sure you will set the world on fire right after you pay off your loans...or alimony, or court fees, or whatever else people like you do that Korea provides the answer to.
On-topic: My phones (and all of my family's) work fine on both English and Korean XP. They are limited in terms of what you can do for free, but as far as the interface software, I have never had any problems. |

Seriously I recommand you see a shrink cause this country has warped you. Oh wait it sounds like your married to a Kgal or your a Kyopo and you can't take a bit of criticism. Yep it definetly sounds like your uber/ultra nationalistic tool.

| So most of us agree that Korean phones do not generally connect successfully to PCs. Indeed I should probably use one with a memory card feature in the future. Too bad I shelled out 30,000 won for this one. Guess I got what I paid for. If I ever need to print, I'll just go to the SK store and pay 500 won per print -- amazing how most phones can *MYSTERIOUSLY* connect to the photo printing kiosk without a single problem. |
