1. While you did not explicitly call Ya-ta boy a bigot, the quote above in bold implies that he's a backwards conservative that would be supportive of someone like Jesse Helms, who I think we can all agree was a bigot. You have also accused another poster of being that on at least one other thread. I wasn't merely referring to this instance.

anyone who is foolish enough to call Al Sharpton an ambulance chaser deserves any admonishment they receive. I don't see where that is accusing anyone of anything and I certainly don't see where Jesse Helms plays into any of this.

2. You are close-minded because you assume ya-ta boy must be conservative because he thinks Sharpton is an ambulance chaser. Jumping to conclusions are we not??

why so hurry to Ya Ta boy's defense - ? you two screwing each other? he's a man let him defend himself already.

3. Who have I pissed on who has dared changed society for the better? What public figure other than George Bush have I insulted? Oakland mayor Ron Dellums. And that was one thread months ago. That's about it. If you can quote me ripping other public officials (and not their policies I disagree with), please do so. In the meantime, I'd appreciate you stop making up facts. I did not comment on Al Sharpton. I don't know enough about him to hold an opinion on the man. I was merely disgusted by you playing the race card.

how funny you must be fair skinned only people that are fair skinned say things like "playing the race card" - I don't even know about the other things you mention.

I DO know however, many people don't like Sharpton because - as I previously stated - he represents the poor and working class - many of whom are people of color and gives them a voice where they had none before. That pisses off a LOT of people - as is evident by those who get attacked for supporting him.

4. And what have YOU done for this country? How do you know what I have or not have done for my country?

Simply because I defended two men who are, as I said before and will maintain, are some of America's best and brightest - that's what seems to have set you off - and others as well - perhaps it's you who is trying to bring race into this?

fyi, You are a faceless name in cyber space; even if you were standing in front of me if you spoke to me this way I would not feel obliged to discuss myself, so don't think it's going to happen here. It's not.

Joe Biden? What a disappointment. Biden voted to invade Iraq and keeps voting for the Patriot Act. If Obama was serious about "change" I wish he would've picked Russ Feingold or really anyone who voted against the moronic Iraq War and against the anti-freedom legislation.

It looks like I'll be voting third party yet again.

or Dennis Kuchinich (sp?)

yeah go Green Party - Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente !!

There's no need. As long as you keep posting, you are doing all the defense of my position for me.

Because I would certainly not want to be pigeon holed in the manner you did to him. Rushing to judgment and making assumptions like you did pisses me off.

yes, bravo. Very astute of you. Has no importance though. So are you admitting that your accusation of me "ripping public officials" is a load of crap?

1. You mentioned race prior to anyone else on this thread.
2. You made a personal accusation, I was throwing it back at you. I really didn't expect you to answer nor care.

Why do you believe this? And how have your impressions on J. Biden changed since the primaries? I believe you supported B. Richardson back then. I do not recall how you felt about J. Biden.

He has never really impressed me much, one way or the other, by the way. I only recognize that B. Obama probably decided correctly not to invide H. Clinton to join him. I just cannot see her as VP, the more I think about it.

Yes, I liked Richardson for President and VeeP. Biden will be an outstanding VeeP. He's knowledgable, mature, and experienced. He can play hot to Obama's cool.

I didn't support Biden back in the day because of his partition for Iraq plan. I didn't like that. But that's been scuttled and demolished, and what I see now I like.

In Canada, I was a member of the NDP, which as you know is the socialist party. So no, my own personal reasons for not liking Al Sharpton have nothing to do with any disdain for the poor or working class.

Mostly, I've been down on Sharpton since the Tawana Brawley debacle in the late 80s. After that, he just didn't seem like the kind of guy I would ever trust. Granted, in those days, a lot of other people were promoting the same sort of panics about ritual sex abuse, but you know, I don't really like Geraldo Rivera either.

Preachers in general get a bad rap, and for good reason. Cynthia McKinney, please don't ever get ordained. But don't stop singing in the choir. Wink

Kucinich would've been okay. I'll be voting Libertarian, but I respect your vote for a party other than the Democrats and Republicans.

I used the word in an appropriate manner - in reference to those who remark about Sharpton as "an ambulance chaser" as it's used in a polarizing, racial configuration seeking to detract from his good work.

I think it's telling how fast someone like you wants to jump on ME for defending Al Sharpton's and Jesse's work as well as the men themselves.

You aren't attacking me for any reason other than that - it really just bugs some of you who want to claim to be intellectuals when the real deal walks in and blows it for you, doesn't it?

sorry, but you aren't that smart if you can't even acknowledge brilliance in people of all races, ethnicities, and gender, doesn't work that way, uh uh.

You're doing it again! Rather than focusing on solid arguments as to why Sharpton is a positive force, you are:

a) attacking BB's character directly

b) using race as a screen to censor criticism of Sharpton (i.e., playing the race card)

You are an exemplar of an attitude that this forum needs to avoid.

I will bite. What is your background?

Whatever it is, I would point out to you that, the rigid ideologues and morons on this site notwithstanding, you are arguing with the wrong two or three posters. These particular posters are pretty sharp.

Funnily enough I don't think you are in any position to be evaluating the brilliance of others.

Sharpton has done more to damage his own reputation than anyone else. Do a Google search on some of the causes he has espoused.

Here are a list of some of the events he was involved in

The Duke Lacrosse players. He has yet to apologize to them

Tawana Brawley. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary he still believes her.

Freddies' Fashion Mart. A black church asked a Jewish tenant to evict a subtenant (a black-owned record store). Al Sharpton entered the fray supporting the record store and making racist remarks like "white interloper" which he later apologized for.

Dunbar Village. That pretty much says it all. We have Sharpton making excuses for a group of criminals who raped and beat a black woman. Why? Because they were black too.

Anti-Semitic remarks like "If the Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house."

He has also deliberately orchestrated conflicts between whites and blacks.
