The sneakers I came here with (purchased at WalMart in the States) are on their last legs and I really need some new ones. The only problem is the fit. My feet aren't abnormally long, but they are pretty wide. Ideally, I wear a size 9 EEE or a "10 Wide" but I can't find anything like that in Korea.

Does anyone know of a shop in the Seoul area (whether or not in Itaewon makes no difference) that stocks unusual sizes, especially wide sizes?

Check out Dr. Martens. They are european design and generally wider than American ones.

There is a shop in Songtan (South of Suwon on the #1 line) that will custom make shoes. Bring in a picture/pick out one there, get your feet measured and for 50-150K you can have shoes custom made to your exact measurements. You can pick out colors/style that you desire as well. They can probably re-make the pair you have.

I can draw you the map on the business card for the store, but I can't exactly tell you where it's at...it's one of those I have to get my bearings and remember how I found it. If you want the directions let me know.

I have been to Songtan but don't know of this particular store. I would certainly be VERY appreciative if you could help me find it!

Thanks a Million!!!!!

for those kinds of prices, you could buy a pair from your home country on the internet and have it sent to you, no problem.. probably of a better quality

Possibly true...but that means you are either buying online and hoping you get exactly what you selected and there's no variation, or you are leaving the decision of exact color/style to someone else to be mailed at their convience. This place you go in pick the style, colors, materials get your foot measured (which they measure just about every concievable part) and wait. If you have an unusual sized foot (high arch/no arch or very wide/very narrow) getting something custom made could just be really nice and worth the little extra money.

Plus if I had someone send me tennis shoes from CA, even going to Walmart...the shoes would be $20 minimum....then the cost of shipping is another $15-$40 depending on how the person mails it...I'd be looking at $35-50 for a pair that might not even fit right just because it's the "right size" if it's not comfortable I either don't wear them or have to pay to send them right back so they can be returned. So where's the money being potentially saved?

Anyway back to the original question here's the directions: (I'll try to attach a version of the map here as well).

Put the Osan base gate to your back
Walk down that shopping street towards McDonald's and the bootleg DVD booths.
The second street on the left that goes downhill is the one you need. Turn left at the "Ocean Shop"
Go downhill till you come to the Pacific Hotel the shop is next door...G.Q. Custom Shoes

Hope that helps.
