Yes.
Once.
In an international school (20,000,000 won a year tuition for kindergarten).
I'd LOVE to have something like this in my classroom. The possibilities are endless (with an Internet connection, of course.)
Alas, I'll be back to using good old reliable chalk boards next week. '*SIGH* |

Of course I've heard about them! I'm from Calgary, but Koreans think that I grew up on a farm and I have an outrageous accent. etc...
Another example of Calgarian ingenuity. |

There are many cheaper solutions. We have smart board equivalents in every classroom at our school. If anyone ever wants to see how one works just shoot me a PM. |

I worked as a teacher for special needs in the American School of the Hague in Holland and all the classrooms in the High and Middle schools had them. All of us called them the "Not-so-smart-boards" not the most creative name but they always screwed up. In a perfect world they were really cool especially for things like Google Earth but usually they just stopped working or got glitchy. |

I am fortunate enough to have a Smartboard interactive whiteboard in my classroom. I love it. The students love it. It's easy to use and looks great. Plus, there are quite a few accessories that the school bought which means I don't ever have to stand at the whiteboard. I can write on it from a tablet or on the PC screen.
I don't think it is a necessary piece of equipment, but it keeps the ESL classes fun and interesting. Students get a kick out of using it or the different remote controls that go along with it. |
