I missed the part where Michelle Obama had any of the requisite experience in crafting legislation, governance, or foreign policy. IOW, what in the hell besides a lofty speech on fluffy ideals would ever qualify Michelle Obama for becoming President?
I think the precedent for First Ladies is that they need to spend at least a full-term in the Senate to run. And Michelle hasn't even become First Lady yet . . . |

Kuros, I doubt that precedence has anything to do with it. (are you saying that Hillary set this?)
But be careful what you wish for, maybe Gov. Blagojevich will appoint her to finish Barack's term when he resigns to become POTUS. She's always been a working mother, would being First Lady have to change that?

Rteacher said she has a Southern accent. Did anyone else detect that? I didn't. She sounds generic Midwestern to me except that she over-enunciated 't' a few times. (By that I mean she actually said 't' and not 'd' like a right-speaking person should do  .)
Does anyone know if Cindy McCain will make a speech next week? If so, it could be fun to have a poll on all sorts of irrelevant factors and just generally denigrate women, don't you think? |

The themes were family, hard work, determination, overcoming adversity ... yeah, pretty fluffy alright.
The last person to give the keynote speech at the conventionin '04, trying to remember, what was that guy's name? I seem to recall the speech he gave made a lot of people very interested. Funny how I can't recall that guy's name - whatever happened to him, I wonder?
Year I was born, by the way, a guy was in the White House who had NO experience crafting legislation, governing democratically or negotiating on equal footing with foreign countries. His name was Dwight something, and people didn't worry too much whether he got an A at President's School.
What exactly was the point you were trying to make? Did you think I was serious about voting for President Michelle?
It was a good speech, but if you've already made up your mind to vote for the other guy, you probably wouldn't see it that way. |

Eisenhower had experience in foreign affairs before becoming president. Directing the European Theater of the Second World War, maintaining the Alliance, on the ground, between America, Britain, Russia, and France for several intense, high-pressure years, not to mention commanding NATO between 1951 and 1952, counts.
Obama is nowhere near the same league as Ike in foreign-affairs-making and especially commander-in-chiefness. |

What I said was that he "had NO experience crafting legislation, governing democratically or negotiating on equal footing with foreign countries." Those are just some bigass words I picked up offa Kuros over there.
And I stand by it. The same is true for McCain, by the way. Ike isn't running in this election, let's all be clear ... and if he was? McCain's nowhere in his league, either. |

Good luck, come November. I decided who I was voting for weeks if not months ago. Just (modestly) contributed to his campaign again. As I have said here before, I can live with a B. Obama presidency -- but I hope I will not have to. |
