|
|
I am looking to make a trip to Thailand. Maybe just a quick 4 day-er... I was looking online, and the tickets are really expensive... Does anyone know of a cheap site or travel agent... They were in the $1000 range... Maybe this is just the rule rather than the exeptition... Any help would be appreciated... Oh, I want to go sometime in October... |

What did I tell you about the spell checker? Get it together.
I know a site one can use, but I'm out back behind the shed at the moment. Word up--never bite the hand that can feed your ass.
Let's see...a round trip to Phuket from Incheon for a TESOL certificate program cheerleader shouldn't run more than about 550. 600 tops.
Will your TESOL outfit be footing this fare? |

So... let's get this straight... You are going to follow me around this sight harrassing me because I would not take your advice and fake a Tesol... Man, your right, tell how to get one so I can be more like you... |

A thousand is probably a pretty reasonable price. I'm going to Cambodia next week and i searched every possible net site and went to three travel agents, and the best i could come up with was like $670 one way. Thailand is a little cheaper than Cambodia, around $600 one way. I'm going home from Cambodia so I didn't bother looking at round trip prices. As obvious as it sounds, the best price i could find was from Expedia; beat the travel agents, the other western sites, and even the Korean sites my co-workers looked at for me.
I'm not interested in getting in between whatever you two are fighting about. Tobias, if there is a cheaper site, I don't know about it.
Prices have gone up recently, from what i've gathered, because of the continuing increase in oil prices.
Enjoy your trip |

I flew China Airways economy to Thailand for around 550 USD round-trip last January, but that was to Bangkok. Naturally, the price would have been higher had I been heading to Phuket or Samui. There was a stop in Taiwan on the way. The wait was only 90 minutes.
Are you going to tell me fares have doubled in only 6 months? Yes, they have gone up, but by 100%?
I have a connection here now that can get me a discounted ticket as I type this to San Fran for 515 bucks one way. |

I'm not trying to tell anyone anything other than what I have found. Like I said, I wasn't searching for round trip and, sometimes for reasons i do not understand, a round trip ticket can be only a little bit more than a one way. Also, the focus of my search was on Cambodia. I only looked at the Thailand fares quickly, for comparison.
I would be interested in learning about your connection. I've arranged my flight to Cambodia but haven't yet made arrangements for the flight home. I am assuming (hoping) that a local Cambodian T-agent will be able to find me a better deal than a Korean agent or the internet. |

Just got back from Phuket and paid 630.000 from Shoestring Travel (Thai Airways). You should be able to find something similar for October I imagine, it's the low season there. |

You have tried grabbing a Korea Herald and ringing round the agents advertising in there? The actual prices tend to be higher than their juicy lead-in prices, but worth a few phone calls. |

I just returned from Thailand. I paid 525,000 won for RT flight to Bangkok though Unique Travel. I would think that ticket prices will be going down now that Korea's Summer high travel season is over. Warning. Travel to Thailand now and pay more than ever before, but expect much less of what you like about Thailand. I know you didn't ask for this, but I must say it.
I didn't' find Thailand as fun as the previous times I went due to the Thai being very unhappy right now with the crisis. While the protests are escalating into riots, Phucket airport, other airports, and many trains are shut right now with the threat of Thai airways striking out. Thais I patronized during my vacation complained about lacking enough earnings, the political crisis with a corrupt government to fight until it steps down, many would not give service in restaurants, many would not smile, and many men (and lady boys) were confrontational, hot, and bothered while putting out a negative intimidating vibe. It was not fun. It was a negative vacation experience over all though I kept my cool and pleased to have gotten out of there yesterday as it's hard to say if the situation will get out of hand as to shut the country down. The Thai will do what they think they have to do regardless of how extreme it can be.
I hope the Thai figure a solution, make it work out, and they return to their smiling cheerio old way again before the situation gets too out of control leading to civil war. Unlike many other peoples, the Thai not only talk, they stand up to fight corruptions and wrong doings on their governments part. With some time, they will try again and return to providing a great tourist experience once again as this is not the 1st time blood and tears have been shed in a fight with the government. I wish I had gone somewhere else this time... |

Hopefully, the political situation will be resolved before too long. I already have plane ticket to go there in December. |

Yeah, they should have had another coup or three by December, so do it up.
When it comes to Thailand, the dysfunctional democracy can finally work if the following happens: Bangkok secedes from Thailand and becomes its own country like Monaco and the Vatican. The new capital could be Ayutthya again. Bangkokians would be happy, as they finally would have a government that satisifes their greedy selves. Thailand sans Bangkok would be happy as it would mean the slowly sinking monstrosity would become its own political problem.
Of course, King Bumbibol could rule both entities. God knows both would implode if there was no grandaddy king to worship.
And speaking of the King, Thailand will implode anyway when he dies. Just don't be there when it goes down. He's older than dirt, so it could happen any time now. |

Well, it certainly would have been preferable if the Burmese had never invaded Thailand and destroyed the old capital.
Anyways, I am no expert on Thai politics, but seems rather unlikely that the clock is going to be reset in terms of where the capital is going to be. |

That's the point. It ain't gonna happen. It's too logical. There's a lot of that illogical baloney going around in E. Asia. |
