I was buying a pair of those black and white sandals and the guy at the store saw fit to comment on the size of my breasts. He also tried to look into my wallet to see how much money I had (he tried to pry open the change purse where my bills were, not just casually glance as I opened it). He ended up charging me five thousand won.

I am pretty embarrassed I let him get away with all that crap and still bought the shoes. Oh well.

Point being I am curious to know how much those black and white rubber sandals usually cost. If he overcharged me I might go back and try to get my money back. Not that Ill be able to, my piss poor Korean level does not lend itself to arguing a shoe vendor out of money already in his pocket.

It's only five thousand won, I know, but I'm angry. I think a lot of the petty stuff people complain about on this board is just the cumulative result of a million indignities focused into one minor incident.

Thanks for the info. Ok, that one really stung because it was a bit of sexual harassment, a little invasion of privacy, and a minor theft all rolled up into one inconsequential incident I can do nothing about. Arrgghh, there is no justice.

Emart: 2,500 - 3,000 원 . Maybe you had to get bigger ones!

You say you have poor Korean? I think he was commenting on the size of your feet, not your breasts.
Photos if you have any?

Not very gentlemanly.

Sexual harassment is a legal term, not a cultural one. There will be those who disagree with me, but I think that this falls under the category of cultural misunderstanding, and apologist terminology aside, I suspect that the ajoshi simply wanted to practice his English.

I feel for you but if you buy things on the street and you don't educate yourself first it is your fault if you get taken not the vendors. This is why I don't buy anything on the street anymore...pretty much all E-Mart for me these days. Problem solved.

Nah, he made a pretty clear gesture indicating breast size: you know the one where people sort of make a curvey motion around their chest. For future reference, what is the word for breasts? I know the word for feet and shoes.
And no photos.

Sounds like a jackass to me. That type exists everywhere. If you're *ahem* generously endowed, then call it an industrial hazard and move on.

Breasts (or more accurately chest) = 가슴

My spelling might be off.
