I'm trying to get out of my one-room but my contract is until March. So, I went to a bunch of 부동산's. Long story short, they found someone to take over my contract and rent my room.

My building has a few parking spots. I don't pay for parking because I don't have a car. The person that wants to take the room has a car. The apartment manager doesn't want someone to move in with a car, so she raised the "maintenance fee" from 30,000w to 80,000w (50,000w per month for parking).

This is for a parking spot on the street. Not covered parking, not underground.

Of course, the person balks at the parking price and passes on the place.

I feel like the apartment manager is purposely raising the "Maintanence Fee" prices to prevent me from leaving my contract early. She is also charging an extra 10,000w a month for a card key. So if you need 2 card key's, thats 20,000w a month you gotta pay.

Isn't there anything that can be done? If someone is taking over MY contract, how can she jack the rates arbitrarily?

I had a similar situation. I'm sorry, but you are screwed. The landlord can ask for whatever the hell they want and you are on the hook until your contract is up. I got screwed for about 8 months because my landlord tried to get an extra 400 000 won/month, but once my contract was up she decided to take the exact amount that I paid before. It sucks

Thats what I was afraid of. Well, if she's going to play hardball, then I'm going to make life hell for her.

Her residence is on the floor right above mine. Water is included in the rent. I think I will leave all my faucets running. Maybe after getting a few water bills of a few hundred thousand won, she'll be begging me to leave.
