I am about to apply for my 3rd E2 visa. I'm in Korea at the moment and I have all the documents (CRC, degree, transcripts).

I will get my CRC notarised at the UK embassy next week, however, another poster mentioned on another thread that your degree has to be 'verifyed'.

I have never heard about this before. Is this true? I've finally got all my documents ready, now finding out I have to do this now just seems like a joke too far.

DO I have to get my degree verifyed, or can I just take it with my others documents and wait for my visa?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Do you have the original degree? If so, you do not need to get it notarized. Korean Immigration will accept your original degree. I just submitted many applications for teachers' E2 visas, no problem.

Personally I would rather had over a notorized and stamped copy of my degree though... But maybe that's just me... Will immi accept that in lieu of the real thing?

Yes Immigration will accept a copy of your degree if it is notarized and verified by an embassy. I have submitted many notarized copies of degrees. Immigration has a habit of keeping these copies though, so either request your school to get the copy back from immigration when they submit your paper work, or get a second copy, because your school also needs to submit your degree to the education board. It has happened to me a couple times where immigration keeps the copies of degrees, and then we need to submit the teachers' degrees to the education board, and we needed to wait until a second copy was ordered by the teachers.

So one visit to the Embassy, they notarize a photocopy of the degree and that's fine. Or is there more?

I was probably the poster you were referring to; I'm getting my degree verified by the Korean Council for University Education because this is my first E-2. I suppose you are still going on a visa run or can you get it direct from immi in Korea?

You need to get your degree notarized by a public notary first, then take it to the Korean embassy to have them verify it and put a stamp on it. As far as the protocol by the Korean Council for University Education, I have no idea what it is.

I wonder why you'd need your degree verified once again, as you definitely needed that done before getting your first job here. And being as you've already pulled a stint, immi has already checked your degree. Once that's completed, you shouldn't need to do it again. But maybe immi needs to keep itself busy, just like I need to at my school...even if it is just for show.
