| For some reason, I can never find places that serve chap chae. I guess I am not looking hard enough. I love it. Can you recommend a good place to get it, or some general restaurants that serve it? Maybe at a galbi place or something like that? |

You surely could have it delivered from a Chinese restaurant. "Chap chae bap" will get you a single serving with chap chae, rice, and jja jjaam sauce. Otherwise if you just order "chap chae" you'll get a big 'ol plate of it! I've seen it in markets as well - at stalls that have a bunch of panchan on offer - or those deep fried things you can eat. Also in the larger supermarkets it'll be with all the other "prepared there" food.
It's not too hard to make, just a lot of chopping involved. Ive tired a couple times but it's never as good as when someone else makes it. I think I get the noodles overdone!
Good luck! |

| I also love japchae and Ive found it in Home Plus and E-mart. It is usually in the section with the pre-made foods(bbq chicken, etc.) and sushi. Good luck! |

Jap Chae is more like a side dish, not a main dish.
So, you'll find it in the supermarkets with the other premade side dishes (banchan). |

| Like pkang said, it's a side dish, but if you look around your neighbourhood, there's probably a shop with a sign selling 반찬 (ban chan) - loads of different side dishes for take out. You will definitely find it there. |

| Ahh...I didn't realize it was considered banchan. Last year, one of my student's mothers made me a BARREL of it. It was one of the most amazing chap chaes I ever had in my life. |

It's a noodle dish with veggies and beef. I think the noodles are clear, sweet potato noodles. It's so good. |

Oh man... you'll love this picture:

That was a potluck with my church friends a couple of years ago. The lady at the Korean restaurant I ordered from basically took me and somehow convinced me to buy that much japchae for a party of ~10 people.
It's hard to see cause the lighting is bad, but... it's 2 ENORMOUS plates of japchae. We barely made a dent in that thing. |

| I believe the Kimbap Nara, Chonguk, etc restaurants have it. Ask for ChapChae Bap or ChapChae Deop Bap, something like that |
