I'm looking forward to seeing the Cowon 02 / S9 and L3 players. I think these are more likely to be ipod killers. Impressive specs. If the O2 has the SQ of the D2, it'll be a winner for sure. 16GB with SD slot, just what I'm looking for. Plays a lot of different formats too. I'll be checking enuri this week and beyond.

They started that article with this line:

RAmos tends to tease us with slick product photos / renders all the time and then pump out shoddy, derivative crap, so we're not going to get too excited about the new T8 iMovie (sigh, terrible name), |

the 3.3 inch cowon looks awesome; do the ones you buy here tend to have no decent English support, or is it decent? |

I've had my D2 for over a year now and as far as sound quality, features, updates etc. it killed th iPod long ago. People buy iPods because they're iPods, not because they're the best players available IMHO. All Apple products are far too proprietary for me. |

I've been looking for a new mp3 player and the Cowon D2 and the Iriver Spinn both caught my eye. Just wondering your thoughts on which model is superiorer?
thanks |

yeah, all products are proprietary to some degree ... however, the comment cangel made was probably referring to the fact that you're locked in to itunes and other software.
the D2 does no such thing. you upload to folders and the player is completely configurable.
btw, for those interested, there's a massive community of mp3 hackers at www.iaudiophile.net ... they do lots of work hacking and skinning non-ipod based mp3 players.
definitely worth checking out ... i got a nifty seoul subway map for my D2! |

Hi All,
Any suggestions about where I can go to purchase these players. What about stores with the best prices? Thanks! |

These puny copycats trying to flood the market with their small storage get on my nerves.
If you can't build something with over 60Gig HD then for me it's not worth buying. Tell that to my 60Gig I-Station as I'm shopping a less bulky iPod and iPhone when they finally come to Korea. |

Thinking about picking up a d2 2g...prices have come down to 107,000 free shipping. They also throw in a case, protective screen and some sort of internet credit...whatever that is (not really worried about this). Anyhow, is that a good price? How user friendly is it? Everything in English? How much can I extend the memory to w/ a sd-card? Does speed matter much w/ the card or can I just use a cheapy. What's a good card?
Thanks in advance for any insight!

26 mb's is not enough. How can that possibly be called an Ipod killer. |

107k is a very good price ... especially with accessories. about 6 months ago i paid 150k for a 4 gig D2 with no DMB (i hate tv).
speed's not too important with the sd card slot. i got a sandisk 16 gig card and it's pretty fast. so my D2 is kicking out about 20 gig of music at the moment.
transcend is cheaper than sandisk, and it's a reliable brand. i steer clear of no brand cards, cause those little buggers fail at retardedly high rates. sandisk and transcend offer lifetime warranties. |

Thanks for the response, Dave! BTW, I just bought two transcend high speed cards for my camera (2 & 4g). Do you need to register the warranty? What happens if they fail? Do u just take them back to the store or a Transcend center? Do u need a receipt? I think my wife probably threw it away. Flash memory sure has come down in price recently. Pretty soon It'll be so low that it may just be easier to throw away and buy new.
So, you can put a 16g card in a d2 2g? |
