Limewire is (or was) a good site, but these days it's getting nuked with bad files that don't play and spam.

What are the other good sites for downloading music, especially new music?

Yes. Torrents are good for full length CDs.
But sometimes the full CD is a single file, which makes it impossible for me to get rid of the songs I don't like, while keeping the songs I like.

Use something like magicISO to strip out the tracks you want from the CD image. http://www.magiciso.com/

MagicISO is a powerful and easy CD image file edit tool. It can create /edit /extract ISO files, make image files from CD-ROM or hard disk, and handle bootable information at meanwhile. It also can convert BIN or any other format file created by CD burning software (Such as Nero-Burning ROM, Easy CD Create) or virtual CD-ROM driver software (such as Daemon-tools) to standard ISO format.

well, this is the thing about torrents.

with the utorrent downloader, you can set it to show all files before downloading. then you can uncheck the files you don't want. so from a full torrent, you only have to download a few tracks if you want.

of course, this only works if the uploader created the torrent in a folder or with individual files. it doesn't work if the torrent is zipped ... however, nobody should be zipping torrents anyway (unless it's software).

try a few torrent sites and use utorrent to download them. set your preferences to preview the torrent first, so you can pick the tracks you want and ignore the others.

easy peasy!
