Has anyone seen any information regarding a 2008 edition of the Terry Fox Run.
The CCCK has put it on in previous years but their website has 2007 information on it.
Any help would be appreciated. |

I got this email last week.
Dear Members,
The CCCK has been the organizer of the Terry Fox Run for the past 15 years. While the amount of funds raised for cancer research in Korea and the total number of participants has continuously been growing, organizing the event has become increasingly more difficult. As some of you may know, The Terry Fox Foundation has implemented stricter guidelines on local organizers in recent years. Regulations about sponsorships and commercial exposure combined with requirements for liability insurance are some of the factors that limit our ability to hold the event successfully. Finally, with 300 volunteers and numerous suppliers and partners to manage, the Terry Fox Run is an extremely resource-intensive event for our small organization to hold.
The board of directors of the CCCK has been evaluating for several months whether it was feasible to organize the Terry Fox Run in 2008 under the required guidelines. The board came to the conclusion that it would be preferable to skip one year and concentrate our efforts on planning a successful Run for Hope (for cancer research) in September 2009. We are already in discussions with major newspapers in Korea to possibly co-host and organize an event.
For over 15 years, the Terry Fox Run has generated significant funding for the benefit of cancer research in Korea. I am aware that many members feel strongly about the Terry Fox Run and have been asking us to organize the event. The Terry Fox Run has become an important element in Canadas public diplomacy and the CCCK was proud to contribute to that role in Korea.
We hope that you will understand the circumstances and the decision made by the CCCK board. I look forward receiving your comments and suggestions.
I also look forward to your future involvement in September 2009, when we hope to hold our next fund-raising run for the benefit of cancer research in Korea.
Best regards,
Simon Bureau
