I think if you lowered the age, you'd see a bunch of teenagers go batsh*t crazy. As much as i think 21 is too old for a drinking age, what i see of today's young people leads me to believe that they couldn't generally handle it. I think a far better solution is to decriminalize it. I very nearly got and underage citation when i was in college and only a massive fight breaking out on campus saved me, but if I had been cited, it would have kept me from pursuing certain careers such as teaching which i intend to do when i go back home.
Make kids do community service or something like that but i don't think there's any need to create a permanent blemish on their record for doing something that a very large number of us have done but were fortunate enough to not have been caught doing. I can almost guarantee you that most teachers back home participated in underage drinking (i didn't know anybody in college who waited until 21 for their first drink) but because they weren't caught they get to teach while others who were in the wrong place at the wrong time get screwed. |

| But, having said all that, it is a bit ridiculous that one can be old enough to die and kill for their country, but not old enough to walk into a bar and have a delicious pint of liquid awesome-ness. |
