I took a medical exam for my Alien Card shortly after arriving in Korea, about 2.5 months ago.

today my Korean co handler hands me a form, saying that I have to go take a medical exam for the National Health Service (as all Korean teachers are also required to do)

She got the call from the school admin. office, and of course she told them I had an exam recently.. but SUPPOSEDLY when the admin lady called the NHS, she was told that that was for immigration.. and they don't share results, or something along such lines.

anyways.. my bullshit meter is flashing full red.

it's not a huge deal, I don't particularly care.. I can go and get this done, but I'd be willing to bet money that someone MISUNDERSTOOD something/someone and this is bullshit.

any other GEPIK public school teachers know anything about this? have been asked/told the same thinng

Haha, I expect to see this form today or in a month. It just goes on and on, as Doughboy said in Boyz N the Hood. I'm not bothered, though. Just means some time away from the office.

There is no misunderstanding.
It is required for all PS teachers GPOE (not just the foreigners GEPIK)
We (as in our school) got ours again this year too.
It is required every couple of years.
It is free.

makes sense down the road, but don't you think LOGICALLY that they can simply use the ARC results obtained as recently as 3 months ago?

it's not like those results were confidential anyways.. the school certainly knows them and certainnly the govt can share such info anyways.

I suspect the ARC exam was more extensive as well?

well, I guess that would be too LOGICAL for Korea then, eh Smile

or it's merely another example of stupid bureaucracy in action.

I just got this thing today too. Are they basically the same tests? I don't really mind doing it again, well, maybe I do, but can someone let me know what they had to do. Not overly invasive is it. I generally hate hospitals in the first place even when I go there by choice.
