God, Schmod... it was Mother Nature taking it's course!
(Let's not give God a bad name)
I'll betcha the LDS had trucks on the road last night.
Mormans to the Rescue
Who wants to bet only Mittens' delegates show up in MN and nominate him and McNuts/Palin gets dumped? Romney/Lieberman '08? That'd be pulling an old switcheroo. |

| What if the Republicans cancel their convention, McCain goes posturing in Louisiana -- before the storm even arrives, and nobody actually gets killed or hurt? |

So far, the only ones there are the press. Politico just had a "Conventions Conversations" on CSpan with the Faux Folks... Tucker, Cokie, some I don't know, but Tucker happened to mention that O'Really is there.
They've pretty much cancelled the political rally, according to the press. But the delegates still have to convene and nominate their delegates, right? |

What have Mormons helping out after a disaster got to do with Mitt Romney? Yeah, I get that he's LDS, but does everything every Latter-day Saint do somehow have something to do with Romney's failed campaign?
(btw.. it's Mormon, not Morman) |

For the record, I am very grateful it was not worse. We don't know the full extent of the damage from Hurricane Gustav, and it's not over yet.
But New Orleans seems to have fared relatively well. And some of that credit goes to the Army Corps of Engineers and others responsible for rebuilding the levy system, even if it is not complete.
That's the way hurricanes go. You have to prepare for the worst, even if it misses most of the time.
And despite the remarkably accurate tracking forecasts, the hurricane's behavior and damage once it hits land seems much harder to predict.
If you follow storms like this, you realize most often us human beings get a break we don't necessarily deserve. So often, when the storm is over, you realize it could have been much worse if the track or conditions had been a little different.
New Orleans got a break this time.
And someone up there deserves a little credit. |
