Hello,
I am looking at going to Palawan in the Phillipines for 2 weeks at Christmas.
I checked prices at a travel agent and he quoted me just under $1000(to get to Puerto Princesa City), which seemed like a lot.
Will prices go down?
Also, what is the best way to get there from Manilla?
One more question, What is the best way to get around on the island.
I wanted to go to El Nido, Caron, Sabang, and San Vincente (unless someone has some better advice for places to go) |

Under 1000 USD was what I paid in July. Around x-mas is high season for the Philippines. Tons of Filipinos, working overseas, come back around Christmas/New Years and Easter for a visit. |

I am not sure how much just the flight to Manilla was.
I have a couple of travel agents getting back to me. I was thinking it would be better to book in late September though. |

Which travel agencies have you asked for quotes? I'm looking to go to Cebu for January and I've emailed a bunch but only 2 have gotten back to me fo sar, one of which does not have the prices yet. |

Travel around the island by Jeepney not by boat. The boat is unbelievably expensive and if you hit rough seas, you'll be sick as a dog, soaking wet and counting the minutes till you arrive at port. |

I actually would like to go to Palawan sometime in the future. For one thing, it has the longest underground river in the world. |

You might find some good info to answer your travel question on the following websites:
http://www.kangsantravel.com/index.asp
Incheon to Manila (Roundtrip) listed btwn 430,000 - 600,000 won (not inclusive of taxes and fuel surcharge which might bump it up 200,000 won.
http://www.cebupacificair.com/
Manila to Puerto Princessa, Palawan (Roundtrip) listed btwn 108,000 won (4,600 Pesos) - 117,500 won (5,000 Pesos) total with fuel surcharges and tax!
Thus, it looks like you could spend 738,000 (630,000 +108,000) won to 818,000 (800,000 + 117,500) won total for flights. You can probably find a better deal with a Korean Travel Agent sometimes rather than Kangnam Travel, but sometimes they have the better deal like their Airtel pack.
Cebu Pacific is cheaper than the domestic (Philippines) options a Korean travel agent will list between Manila and Palawan.
You will have to do the footwork matching up travel times on the websites. I hope this helps. Good luck! |
