Democracy Now! is only the best news program in North America.

The St. Paul police actions are reminiscent of those of the Indonesian soldiers who bashed Amy Goodman's skull as she covered the genocide in East Timor when few reporters were covering that.

The US with its fascist thugs behaves no better than an authoritarian third world country with these obvious tactics to intimidate journalists.

Oh jesus. Unbunch your panties.

The St. Paul police would only be "reminiscent" of the Indo thugs if they actually behaved like them and also bashed in her skull. Did you not do well in maths?

I'm not down with any abuse of liberty but 'you people' with your hyperbole flowing in your veins make me want to join the Republican Party.

Welcome to the 21st century.

I've been in the 21st Century since January 1, 2001. Also of immense help with that was keeping my cranium in its natural position where it can receive sunshine during the day.

It's not a blog. The do have a site and blog, but the main output is on Public Access TV. The goal of the show is to remain free of ANY outside influence, and by sitting on PA they can do that. They're also on radio. Essentially, if you are in one of the top one hundred markets in the US, or even a market with PA radio or TV, you get Democracy Now! It's pretty damn lefty, but as good as, or better than, anything on Fox when you take their idealogical stances into account.

I'm as shocked that this happened as that none of you armchair pols have heard of the show or it's fearless leader.

The thing no one has taken into account, is that these guys were REPORTERS wearing PRESS CREDENTIALS. My issue is that it appears that means NOTHING anymore. The fourth estate has been getting gradually eroded for the last 130 years, but this kind of crap is outrageous in light of the fact that the cops were clearly being filmed and it gave them no pause whatsoever.

Oh, get real. That's not even close to journalism. It's a blog.

She had press credentials clearly displayed--if you can see them in a youtube video, you better dang well believe the cops did. Stop making excuses. If it Malkin being arrested at the DNC, you'd probably be up in arms.

If the anarchists didn't show up and start tearing shit apart, Goodman would be free on the streets.

It's not annarchists and violent hippies being arrested. Police are going into homes all over Minneapolis and arresting people who have done NOTHING at all. If this crap was happening outside of the US or at the DNC, the right wing would be going Nuc-u-lar.

1968 protest was at the Democratic convention. Seems people protest at the wrong place.

There was a reporter arrested, an ABC reporter. This was at the Democratic Convention in Denver.

From what I understood, those arrested left the authorized "protest" route. They threatened Republican delegates to the Convention, threatened businesses in the area, and were violent toward the police.

When you think of these type of protesters, think of Portland.

Damage to Private property.
Damage to local Businesses.
Damage to the city's image.

Damage to democracy?

Often times, blogs are first reporting news or stories which the major networks take days, or even weeks to get their hands on.

You display your own ignorance and bigotry with that remark. This explains quite clearly to those able to read an English dictionary that the pronunciation you mock is one of the accepted pronunciations in the English language.

I don't particularly know you from anybody else, but the kind of dismissiveness exhibited in your post sounds like what a right wing apologist would say.

"They're arresting journalists who haven't done anything!"

"Oh, please, they're hardly journalists if they have a blog."

"OK, well they still haven't done anything and the journalist in question had clearly viewable press credentials. If someone has press credentials, why are they being arrested?"

"....silence..."

Would Drudge have been a better example? I could argue that Fox News hardly passes as journalism with it's jingoistic, blatantly right wing agenda and it's talking points memos parroted by Shep Smith and Sean Hannity passed on from Dana Perino.

Ah, I see now. You're responding to what you pretend I wrote. How...what's the word? Oh, yes. Trollish.

I had no prior encounter with you on this board that I can recollect and I see no reason to pander to your inanities. That ignore list sure does come in handy here!
