I wonder: do some of us not listen enough to our intuition?
I'm thinking of two relationships.
In one relationship, I trusted her faithfulness implicitly, never had a doubt. And I truly believe that I was 100% right on that, whatever other differences we may have had.
With the other, there were little, and not so little, signs that I convinced myself didn't mean anything, and that enough love and understanding from me would make for a good future together. In the end I paid dearly for not listening to, for essentially disregarding, my intuition; I didn't give proper weight to the things that I should not have made excuses for.
All of which is by way of saying that if your intuition tells you that you shouldn't let your spouse go alone to Thailand because you don't trust him or her, perhaps you need to ask yourself what does that really say about your relationship? If, like most of us, you value and need fidelity, that lack of trust might be telling you something about the relationship that you'd better pay serious attention to. |

Good luck with that monogamy thing. |
For those of us who haven't (me), what does this mean exactly? Spare no details, please. |

Thailand is an interesting place. In this place you can fulfill every fantasy you have ever had. Anything from ladyboys to a 4-some is fair game. The ladies of the night are everywhere. Massages often come with an optional happy ending. If you are average looking, finding a girlfriend is simple. Even the bargirls provide what many call the GFE (girlfriend experience). If you can't get laid in Thailand, you are a sad excuse for a man!! |

| I was just on wikipedia and it said that prostitution has been estimated at about 3% of Thailand's GNP and in Korea, it is said to be 4.1%, so if you are allowed to roam around Korea, why not the rest of Asia? |

I would be skeptical of Wikipedia. I once wrote an economics paper about legalizing prostitution. More money flows from Pattaya to Issan in Thailand per year than the entire government budget for economic development. I highly doubt that there is more prostitution in Korea than Thailand. Thailand is a prostitution haven. |

So how's life back on the homefront?
Is it like old or are things tense? |

I agree with this about 200 percent. And since you can have whatever you want, no questions asked, I think it's really difficult to stay faithful in Thailand. It's where the saying "What Happens Here, Stays Here," originated. |

A 4-some?!
I don't think I physically have it in me to handle four women at once (although it would be a helluva great problem to have ) |

A foursome would only be three women, unless you don't plan on being there yourself. |

my wife lets me go to travel alone all the time.. she knows its my hobby and its what I really look forward to doing every year!
im going to thailand again this Xmas with my cousin.. I told her im going of course she doubts me, but what can she do.. SAY NO! you are not going to spend time with your cousin or friend in thailand..??
actually that was her first answer ahahahahah but then she says OK if you really want to go.. GO.. and without fail the last thing she says to me before I head to the airport is.. BEHAVE !!!
hahahahahaha
but yeah like some other poster said.. A western wife would never allow her man to vacation by himself.. especially thailand!
and to the poster who said she would never let her husband go to thailand alone becuase she is afraid he will cheat! reality is, he can so much easier cheat here than thailand..any man or women can have an affair right where they are.. |

I basically understand what you mean, and it's true Thailand has sex available pretty much on tap, but will just add that it gets very old very quickly (at least for me) if you actually live in Bangkok. I've been living here for awhile now, and I just find the bar girls and go-go clubs dirty and annoying and have zero interest in any of them, not even for free (which actually isn't very hard to pull if you go to the right after-hours dance clubs). I don't mean to generalize too much (some of them may be nice people) nor do I look down on guys wanting to do it, I just personally find those girls to be a complete turn-off, mainly because there's no challenge to it whatsoever and it's just not satisfying at all.
The wealthier Chinese-Thai girls driving around Ekkamai in their Mercedes would be the opposite extreme (dating for status) but are not particularly easy to get with, nor really worth it imo (too spoiled). A few of my friends (who can speak Thai pretty well) have nice 'regular' Thai girlfriends, and they're not bad, but I tend mostly just hang out with Japanese (quite a few living in BKK). I'm sure they exist, but I haven't really met many Thai girls that I would want to expend any serious effort on. |
