One of my Korean co-teachers asked me for websites where she can practice and improve her English. She is the best co-teacher I have, and her English is pretty good. She even spent the summer vacation in Canada.

Needless to say I'd like to encourage her interest in improving her English.

Does anyone know of any good websites where she would be able to practice her English and pick up some high-level language use?

I've recommended a couple of novels to read, and some TV shows to watch, but I think she's most interested in finding a forum or the like to practice her English.

It really depends on what she wants to improve. I get the sense that it is just "generally" so I'd recommend two things.

1) Rich content - videos with subtitles/text to speech Try Yolango, http://www.yolango.com/ I helped develop the site and it has videos with text support and quizzes afterward. There are other "how to " sites which are pretty good also, if she's into that stuff. www.expertvillage.com is one. She can learn about something and learn English at the same time.

2) Social interaction. She should join a site, make friends and USE English in a very non threatening, fun, interesting way. She should be doing her prof. development in English. www.classroom20.com is a possibility. EFL Classroom 2.0 offers many friends from around the world - also loads of sites. Just click the Resources tab and select links....

Cheers,

DD
