Hello,

I finish up my current contract in December. I was going to go back to the states for a month (while home, take care of all the new visa requirements).

If I found a new job in December with perhaps a March 1 start date, could I take care of all of the paperwork (criminal check, embassy meeting, medical clearance, etc.) in December, while I am home, then go hangout in SE Asia for a few months on my way back to Korea?

I appreciate any help and advice.

Thanks!

Well, the CBC needs to be from the last 6 months. So, you should be fine on that front. Assuming you have had an E-2 visa before, there is no need for an interview at the embassy. The medical check is done in Korea. You can obtain your visa wherever there is an embassy or consulate.

You will have 90 days to enter K-land before the visa expires.

P.S. You get the medical exam done in Korea.
