I looked up the word 멋있다 on Naver's excellent dictionary. It gives all kinds of example uses of words. Anyway from the above search I got to:

멋쟁이 a dude《미》;a dandy;a fop;a swell《구어》;a classy dresser;a cockscomb
멋쟁이 양복 a stylish suit
멋쟁이 아가씨 a body soxer《미속》
멋쟁이 미남자 a dandy;a handsome boy

I've tried doing a google search and an image search and I haven't found out what a "body soxer" is.

Was it a joke entry put in a Korean dictionary by some missionary wit 100 years ago that's still kicking around in modern dictionaries?

Has anyone used the term "body soxer" to describe a girl? Also, does anyone regularly drop "cockscomb" into their sentences when discussing gentlemen?

On another amusing dictionary note, the definition of "yellow ba$tard" in my electronic dictionary is 일본사람 (japanese person).

I'd be willing to bet it should be a "bobby soxer" since 아가씨 is a young woman. Dictionary.com defines bobby soxer as - an adolescent girl, esp. during the 1940s, following youthful fads and fashions.

This has nothing to do with Korea, but I saw an audio product with such a funny name, I laughed:

Apex makes an electronic called, "Aural Exciter with Big Bottom".

That one really got a chuckle out of me. Everyone should get one of those!

Perhaps you meant "bobby soxer." Teenage girls in the U.S. in the 1950's wore white bobby socks with black and white saddle oxford shoes almost exclusively. According to my mother, the shoes with the eraser pink soles were the coolest. She probably had the ones with the ordinary soles. Anyway, they called these young girls "bobby soxers" because of this fashion trend.
