I'm looking for something thats good and priced reasonably. The places I've seen so far are these fancy, upscale joints.

Gangnam and reasonably priced? You know the two don't go together.

Go out exit 6 and take a right at Giordano's. Pass the first intersection of alleys and go to the next intersection of alleys. That street, which runs parallel to the main drag, contains a lot of galbi and samkyupsal places.

I can't say anything about quality, or even price for that matter, but there's a lot of them and they don't look expensive.

I think I know where you are talking about. Its a left at Giordano's I believe. Near NB club.

That alley has a line of different BBQ places, but I didn't like it because the guys that try to get you to go into a restaurant are so damn pushy. I've had to get in a couple of their faces and tell them "don't f-ing touch me".

Yeah, left, sorry.

They are pushy on that street, but I like it. It's like walking up hooker hill and feeling like the most popular, handsome guy in the world.

I rate Mapo-Kalbi on that street, nobody outside trying to get you in as far as I remember either....

If you don't mind a bit of a walk (10 minutes if you're fast) there are heaps of places in Nonhyeon-dong.

Go out Gangnam Station exit 7 (the one that leads to CGV) and keep walking until you get to Kyobo Tower Sageori. Cross the road and as soon as you get across (you should be in front of a brand new building designed like a concrete block with lots of circles cut in it) go right up the hill and take the first left. You should be walking down a small incline parallel to Gangnam-ro. There are good places all down that street.

gotta go with this guy...i live off that street and its always poppin with people. the restaurants aren't pushy as most of the people who go there are regulars.

one i'll recommend is really close to the concrete swiss cheese building. after you take the left in homedude's post, walk about 2 mins. you'll pass one intersection. the next intersection t's off to the right. on the left is a parking lot. there is an awesome place on the corner. its under the better than beer pub. its right on the corner and they just reopened after renovating it. i haven't been back since they reopened, but its always one of my favorite places to go. highly recommended and pretty cheap too.

ajime, a chain, has a location near gangnam station. they run about 8,000-10,000 per portion of beef galbi.

it's a bit of a walk. you have to go out the pagoda building exit (i forget the number - 6?). then walk north on that alley running parallel to the main street. it will curve turn left, then right again. ajime will be in an alley on the right.

it ain't the best galbi i've ever had but at 1/2 or 1/3 of the price of some of the other gangnam joints i'd take it anyday.

Yes! This is the place I had in mind when I wrote this post. I haven't been there since the renovation either though.

Yeah, I agree with the poster that said Mapo galbi is the best down that street out exit 6 (turn left at Giordano, then the second right).

The rest are all the same and very average IMHO. Although further down there is a place that does smoked galbi. That was a nice change.

I will have to check out the street by the swiss cheese building, it sounds good.

So we were there last night for dinner and had a good meal....up until the part where the workers finished eating their dinner at a table near us. One of them took the spoon he had just eaten with, swished it around in his water cup and then put it back in the container for the next customer to use. Shocked Can't say I'll be going back there again no matter how good the food was.
