Just looked at my ARC for the first time in quite a while. The marker showing the extension expiration date on tehe back of my ARC has worn off. My passport says Oct 15. Will the ARC ALWAYS have the same date? I know the contract date sometimes differs.

thanks.

The ARC expiry date will almost certainly be different.
I'd check with immigration pronto.

Unless you got your ARC the same day you came into the country, it's going to be different.

It will be different in yr case as you presumably came in before the new regs kicked in.

Nowadays they are the same.

This is NOT correct. There has been no change in the fact that the ARC usually does not equal the passport date with the new regulations.

The new regulations did not change this. I first came before the new regulations and then again this year after the new regulations and this worked the same in both situations.

Your ARC should expire exactly a year after your date of entry on a working visa. I think you're talking about your extension though. Seems to me that you got it extended to October 15. Your ARC should expire at the same time. That's the way it's been with all the extensions I've had in Korea.

Not to worry though, you can check with immigration and they could just initial your allien card again. They have it on file.

The contract date can differ mostly when you fly in on a working visa arriving before the contract starts. That would mean that your alien card would expire before the contract ends. In your case though, you got an extension where I would have to assume that you didn't have to leave the country and come back again (of course). So it's only common sense that immi would initial the same date as what's in your passport (the square stamp, right?).

That's it, that's all.

Doesn't matter when he got his ARC. The date initialled on the back is the same as the one on the extension stamp.

New regulations have nothing to do with what's initialled for an extension on the back of an alien card. His extension is just that: his extension. That's the date his current sojourn expires. There's nothing magical that changes that such as new regulations. Doesn't matter.

But you're right in a sense. The dates are the same.

Again, no. The extension stamp date and the extension date initial on the back of your alien card are the same.

My contract end date , passport stamp and extension dates (done twice) are three different dates - varying by over a week.

passport : 28/12
ARC : 31/12
Contract: 5/1

...so, check with immi for your specific data.

I had overlooked the OP writing that an extension is invplved.

The expiry date on my ARC coincides exactly with that of my passport entry, the first time that's happened. Previously, the dates were always at wide variance.

Irrelevant to what the OP is asking, right? I mention it only in passing and to clarify my post.

Ah, so it sounds like it should be the same as my passport. Either way, it will be within a few days I think. I only needed to figure out because my co-teacher/handler asked about it.

I'll call and ask. I can't just go there because it's an hour plus away.
