Okay Im having a hard time trying to decide where to go. I originally thought Japan would be a good idea, but now I'm thinking that for the 600,000won airfare four days just isn't enough given all the things I would want to see and do.
So any thoughts on where would be a good place to spend four days? I would like to get out of Korea. I've been to Beijing and Cambodia and thats it.
any suggestions would be appreciated! I'm looking for a change of scenery from seoul. Not really looking for the bar scene since I can find that here. |

maybe Hong Kong? could be interesting, only a 2-hour flight. don't know the price though, may be similar to Japan... |

I was thinking Hong Kong, Tokyo, or Guam too, but the taxes eat you alive. It's 280,000 to Hong Kong or Tokyo and 500,00+ to Guam before taxes. This equals to airfares around 550,000 to 800,000 won. That's a lot of dosh to blow for just a 3 or 4 day trip unless it's a business trip.
Stay home alone Chuseok? Maybe. It means more money for later when there's more vacation time. |

Do HK or Macau for the mid autumn festival (chuesok) .... See if you can get on one of the Air Macau flights... they are usually pretty cheap.

Stay in Korea and go down south to Mokpo and Wolchulsan. You can hike, sightsee, loaf, whatever. I've done the Wolchulsan NP hike, and it's a good one. Mokpo's a great little city. The surrounding area is one of the nicest in Korea. It kind of reminds me of western Montana, only with much smaller mountains. |
