that says all remuneration must be paid within the contract period. My first contract is up and I'm being told that since I renewed some of the remuneration will be paid during the second contract over a 6 month period. At no point have I ever agree to this in writing or verbally. I'm looking for something to back me up when I go argue. Thanks.

Actually, I think the law says the opposite of what's happening to you. I think your hagwon/school has to pay you within a certain number of days. I can't remember if it's two weeks or a month, but you should call Labor Law and ask them. I usually see the number 1330 or something like that, but I never called myself. I either went to their offices in person or had a Korean call for me.

It depends on what part of your "remuneration" you are talking about and whether you are a salaried employee or a (legal) subcontractor (not on an E2).

Your SALARY must be paid in full every month.

Your "severance" is only required to be paid on your termination (but can be paid earlier if requested).

So you are being paid? pick your fights. Is your severence is not being paid till you leave? if so get it pro-rated. If you want it now then ask for it and if they won't well offer 30 days. It all comes down to do you trust your boss (yeah some will say never trust a korean boss but some you can)

To comment on CMR's post, I think the OP has a pretty decent job with a university, as opposed to a Hagwon.

I was referring to overtime and I'm a salaried employee with an hourly overtime rate.

As for the comment about picking my fights, a good job doesn't mean that you roll over and play dead! With the exchange rates recently, I'm losing money every month they hold my pay.
