I want to go to work in Incheon next contract, but I rarely see jobs advertised in that area. Who handles the public school positions there--is it EPIK? I wouldn't be opposed to going to work for a hagwon there after checking it out myself.

Can anyone offer some leads or insight into finding work here?

I was looking at a hagwon gig there, but have never heard anything good about the city of Incheon on Dave's.

I'm moving there to be closer to my soon-to-be fiance.

And I quite like the city. There's plenty to do and some fantastic restaurants.

Which part of the city do you want to be in? There's a big difference from Bupyung and Gangwha or Geomdan.

부평 would be nice, but I'd be open to location if the school is good.

Back in 2004, I used to visit friends in Bupyeong. I really liked that area. It was easy to take the subway from Bupyeong to anywhere in Seoul (just take a nap, laptop it, or visit with a friend on the 1 hour subway trip). I think they had really good Chinese Restaurants, similar tastes to those found in North America. There was a great pub called the Goose. Most foreigners there were very friendly. A Kiwi worked behind the bar, lots of Koreans and Foreigners together, and they had lots of Soccer and Rugby matches on TV. They have a nice shopping area too. There was also a sports pub with a British Breakfast.

If you are in town, go check out the area and see what you think. If memory serves, exit the subway, go to the Starbuck's (or Tom's) Coffee Shop across the street and ask for directions to the Goose. From there, I am sure people could tell you if its a good area to live or if it now sucks. I was never thrilled with other parts of Incheon and Bucheon I visited (a bit more dirty than I like). Bupyeong was nice. I liked it better than Gangnam, that's for sure. Good luck!
