Actually, my wife is asking me where to find them so that she can decorate our new apartment. I don't think rugs/carpets are very common here (I'm trying to think of the last time I saw one in someone's apartment) but I may be wrong. Folding screens, on the other hand, you would expect to find more often, but we have only seen one or two at Homeplus - they were in the Chuseok section (180,000).
Any help would be appreciated! |

Are you in Seoul? One good place to shop for home decor is under the Express Bus Terminal, in the Gangnam Underground Shopping Arcade. It runs for miles and miles. If you get off the subway at Banpo and enter the underground mall from there, that end of the mall is full of flower shops and furniture and home decoration, with quite a selection of Asian-style furniture (not antiques), including folding screens. Good selection all in one place.
Rugs and carpets are not popular, but you can find them. Possibly some are in the underground mall. The furniture store chain Hanssem has some, probably other furniture stores too. |
