Boryeong/Daechon.
About 30 min bicycle ride to the beach.
We have to walk over a little mountain/hill to work, which is pretty and only takes 10 minutes. There are rice fields everywhere, and it is very clean and pretty. Quiet too. Good apartment and area. Little adjuma/adjossi shop and a Hanamart a few minutes walk away.
And ever since Homeplus came to town, better shopping access.
We really like it here.

Dongdaemun-gu, near Kyung-Hee university and Korea University.

Nice, quiet area. Lots of trees, and lots of little restaurants and cafes and shops. Not the most exciting place, but it's good. It's a 20-min subway ride from the busy areas.

Yeongtong. Lots of suburban sprawl and wide open spaces. Everything is new. There is quite a bit of pretty landscaping inbetween locations and you never feel cramped in the big city sense. The pollution is pretty light spare the expressway and I live next to a large field of rice paddies that make for good walking (there is a public walking path/park).

All the amendities are within walking distance and I'm also getting a subway stop beside my house next year. I might stay here another year.

The downside is that I rarely see foreigners in Yeongtong unless I go downtown (or is that an upside?)

HongDae, right smack in the middle of it. Great digs, 2 minutes from the station and bus stops to downtown, easy walk to Shinchon, 3 stops to Costco, 5-7 minutes on a bike to the Han River. Gym and swimming pool right out the back entrance. Killer unabstructed front and back views.
