Does anyone know where the local Community Medical Clinic is in the Hannam/Itaewon (Yongsan-gu?) area?
Each area is supposed to have one although a lot of people are unaware that they exist and are very cheap (almost free). Even most Koreans don't know about them. Of course I've been asking around for the one in the Hannam/Itaewon area but haven't been lucky yet (although I've been told about others in different areas). Anyone know or can help?
My wife is pregnant and we'd like to get some ultra sounds/scans done. They do this service for about 3,000 won as opposed to 80,000 won at some other places! May as well make my government insurance do some work as I seem to pay about 50,000 won every month (time for some returns!).
Or does anyone know where we can get some ultra sounds/scans/whatever done at a reasonably cheap price? We are used to paying 400 Thai baht for it, so Korea seems very expensive! |

I don't know of a cheap place but Dr. Sung's Clinic is the place for foreigners in Korea regarding pregnancy. It's in hannam-dong and the number is 02-790-0802. |

There are tonnes of ob/gyns around. I think it's 산부인관 (maybe someone can correct my spelling??). If you want a cheap scan, I would try pricing the smaller ones. I've never shopped around, so I can't tell you what the range is.
If you want cheap, don't go to Dr. Sung...she has to be the most expensive around. Plus she'll try to push all kinds of needless tests on you. |

I agree with Sistersarah about Dr.Sung. I paid 80,000 for an ultrasound at her clinic. While I was pregnant, the most I paid for an ultrasound at a private women's hospital was 30,000 with insurance. Ask a Korean friend where to go. That is how I found my hospital. |

There's also Miz Medi Women's Hospital in Daechi-dong...but I haven't been there nor have I heard anything about it. I just know it exists. |

they're called 보건소 (bogunso). I went to their homepage for you and this looks like what you might want:
[ 140-704 ] 서울 용산구 원효1가 25
02)710-3431~2 02)710-3692
