Hi,

What would you guys say would be the fastest way for me to get up to Incheon Airport?

I have been there plenty of times before, but always take the airport bus which is about 3 hours from Daejeon where I am. Is there any way for me to get up there in 2?

Like could I take the KTX up to Seoul Station and get an airport bus immediately to make it in maybe 2?

The reason I'm looking is because the flight I want to take leaves around 7:20pm and I'm done with work at 3...thus the dilema (leave at 3 gets me to the airport at 6 and thus only 1:20 to go through customs and everything).

So if there is anyway for me to shave an hour off the trip up there, I seek your advice.

Thanks everyone,

Mike

Incheon has a helipad, why don't you charter a chopper to pick you up in Daegu?

i haven't done it, but it seems that gwang-myeon station is closer to ICN than seoul station is. probably less traffic than going downtown as well. there's an airport bus from gwang-myeon, and every KTX train i've ever been on has stopped there, though you'd probably want to double check that.

Taking the bus from Seoul Station to the airport in the late afternoon will take close to 2 hours. The traffic is horrendous, and I think all the buses make at least one stop at Kimpo Airport. But, I think there is a bus every 30 minutes that heads to ICN from Seoul Station.

Also, even if it were possible to make it there in 2 hours, you'd need timing on your side. Which isn't going to happen.

If you're willing to pay, maybe a taxi. Don't know how else you'd make it in 2 hours from Daejeon.

Hey,

Thanks for all the responses. I think my best bet will be to go to Gwangmyeong first on the KTX and then take the airport bus from there. Has anyone taken the Gwangmyeong airport bus and knows how long it takes to get to ICN?

Thanks guys again,

Mike

That is ideal, but only wishful thinking. Very funny. Smile They could offer domestic taxi flights. I just want to get to and from the darned tutin airport in a jiffy. I find it takes 2 extra days of vacation to get to and from the airport due to limited transportation. They just don't have night limo buses you can take after work to make an early morning flight. I dream of weekend trips to Tokyo and Hong Kong, but the ground transit is a barrier due to limited service. They sure could had built the airport SE of Seoul instead of on the farthest corner of the country as to allow a central location that is quick and easy to get to along with a high speed train, ideally a stop on the KTX line. This really is not the traveling kind of country, but it works for business travelers going to Seoul.

I suspect that if you're on the KTX line, you can take the KTX to Seoul station and get an airport bus from there to save time. Get a taxi if you want to instantly just go. I believe you can do this depending on what time of the day it is, because public transportation does not start until 7 or 8AM in many places and ends at 7PM in some places and goes as late as midnight in other places. You probably can get airport transportation anytime to and from Seoul, but elsewhere in the country is a nightmare that requires planning ahead as well as time and patience. Flights often depart and leave at times inconvenient to the country's transit system's operating schedules. I want to leave at either 7PM or 4AM for Incheon and get service back home sometime between 9PM and 3AM, but service is not offered during these flight arrival times despite the flights tending to depart and land during odd hours.
