Used to be one of my favorite bars but my last few experiences there have been horrid so I think good'ol Brix deserves this bad'ol karma. my last times there:

*rude staff
*terrible service
*weak and yet overpriced drinks (small martinis too)
*and to top it off the Shisa pipe left me violently ill and vomiting/nauseous (no i wasn't drunk, it was most def. the Shisa) Looks like they've never been cleaned. oh and has anyone ordered nachos there? $6 (or more?) for a plate of dry chips. bla

Just had to get that off my chest....

I haven't been there in a while, but I've also some problems at Bricxx in Hongdae. One friend had food poisoning from the falafel balls. They've given us bad service on a few occasions, but the worst was when we were smoking hookah and ordering drinks. After 40 minutes, they said we must return the hookah or buy a new one even though the hookah was still going strong and we were ordering drinks. Needless to say, we left and haven't been back.

Gr8, above Ska in Hongdae, is the best hookah bar in Korea.

These bars have so many customers coming and going they don't care how upset you are.

They believe if anything upsets you, makes you sick, whatever, it's because you are drunk.

If something bad happens, it's because of something you did, not something they did.

I know this is not what you want to read but that's the reality.

Some of them, yes. But many places are well-run. Gr8 is run by a man who lived in the USA for a long time and understands customer service, hospitality and repeat customers. I'm on a first name basis with him because of all these reasons. Other bars and restaurants see me and my friends on a regular basis and it pays off, especially on a Tuesday night when 5 people spending 25,000 each is half their nightly income.

OMG!!! Yes! The quality of Brixx has gone wayyyy down since I first arrived 2 years ago. Used to be great. Now though, it's loud, the music is boring, the shisha is timed (30mins? F--- you). I guess it took the one in Itaewon a little longer to follow suit but the one in Hongdae played itself out really fast. Also, the drink names are just kind of disgusting...not even funny because they always start an awkward conversation if you're with koreans.

Also, is Gr8 owned by the guy who owns W8 across the street? W8 is the only place in Hongdae that properly serves wine.
