Phoenix Park (near Yeongpyang, the Olympic bid site) has some decent runs. A friend of mine has an equipment rental shop there, very reasonable, & he enjoys hosting foreigners (speaks great english). He might well throw in some free instruction if you wanted. PM me for contact info if youre interested.

Hey Schwa, thanks for the info. Do you happen to know if they have large size boots (300+)?

HAHAHA

Hey it made me laugh. :D

I'm keen to fit some boarding under my belt too while I'm up there this winter. I've heard that Japan has some of the best powder in the world, which could mean a weekend trip over the sea is an option.

jae.

Japan has some of the best powder in the world? I find it really hard to believe that it even compares with the FRench Alps or with the CAnadian Rockies.

hey dutchman

Just spoke with my friend. Large snowboard boots no problem with a bit of forewarning & specifics. If still interested, PM me & I'll send you his number.

I'm off to Phoenix park today. Going to spend the afternoon on the slopes and the evening in a cozy little chalet for two. (Hope there's a fireplace!)

I'll let you know my impression of the slopes when I get back on Monday.

I spent some time at Muju over the weekend. It was both expenive and crowded, but a good relief from teaching.
