|
|
I'm trying to get my CRC going, but need info on getting my fingerprints done.
I'm in Ulsan. I've been to the downtown police station, but they didn't have a clue. Is there a form that I need to get from somewhere? The police were telling my Korean friend that I have to get a fingerprint form from Canada (home) before anything can proceed. What gives? |

I was told i had to get a finger print card at my korean police station.
if you dial your local area code and 1330 you get a free translation service on your cell phone. They helped alot when dealing with my local police. |

If you are outside of Canada:
Contact the nearest police force which offers fingerprinting services. The RCMP will accept fingerprint forms from foreign countries that contain the following:
- rolled and flat impressions of all ten fingers taken with black ink
- full name, date of birth and sex of the applicant
- the name and address of the police agency
- the signature of the official taking the fingerprints. |

I went to the Korean police station with a Korean friend, and they told me their fingerprint cards are for internal use only - they don't give them out to "random people".
It's now my understanding that I must go to the Canadian Consulate in Busan, and pick up a fingerprint card, which then must be brought to a Korean police station.
What about the city police from your hometown? I did several criminal record checks through them, back home, for other jobs, so I'm hoping that's acceptable. |

There are successful ways of getting your CRC and VSS without fingerprints. Some teachers here used the Winnipeg Police Dept. even though they were not from Winnipeg, and other have tried other smalltown PD's with success.
I went through a paralegal office in T.O (but from Korea) who expidites a check through the Spring Hill PD in Nova Scotia and last week had it arrive, notorised from the embassy and Immigration accepted.

I can;t say enough of the option I went through, reduced a heck-off-a-lot of stress on my end and pretty cheap too ($46 for snail-mail delivery) |

Or you could follow the link I posted, print a copy of the card, take it to the cop shop, and save yourself a trip to Busan.
Your choice. |

| It was a day or so I think for the legal office to arrange the CRC from Nova Scotia to T.O and only 5 days Purolator to Paju. However, for the rapid service I paid a whopping $160 for curiour and additional fees (4the CRC and VSS is only $32 itself). However my school paid a chunk of it as they were the slow-pokes in getting my contract settled. Otherwise for normal registered mail it's about 2-3 weeks. |
