I am selling this for a friend who has now left so I am slightly clueless about it! It is an Avartec 3700, and is really light. I can't find how big the hard drive is, my friend said it was 80gb, but I'm not sure that's right! If someone tells me where to find out I will.

BATTERY NO LONGER HOLDS POWER (although it did a week ago find so I am not quite sure what is going on with that)

What I can find out is
Microsoft Windows XP
2.00 GHZ
480 MB of RAM
CD DVD player
12.1 " XGA display
4 in 1 card reader

THERE IS SOME SCRACTHING TO THE OUTER CASE, PURELY COSMETIC

I live in the south so I would need to ship this, but make me an offer as I don't know what it is worth!!

Double click "my computer," then right click "C:" and select "properties."

It should show used space, free space and capacity. Capacity is the hard drive size, and if it's an 80 gig it will say 76 or something like that. (Slightly lower due to marketing schemes.)

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I have tried emailing you several times and pm'ing you a number of times without response. Not sure if you're getting the emails; can you email me about the camera and German book when you get a chance? Thanks

Review - http://www.justechn.com/2006/03/16/averatec-3700-laptop

"There are two models of the 3700. The 3715-ED1 offers a DVD burner and 80 GB hard drive and the 3715-EH1 has a 60 GB hard drive and DVD player/CD burner combo."

Looks like you have 3715-EH1

"Even better is the fact that the 3700 line of laptops is under $1000. The laptop that I reviewed, 3715-EH1, costs $849. You can choose a less expensive model, 3715-ED1, that costs $799, but the only difference is a DVD burner and a larger hard drive."

Post - http://www.engadget.com/2005/09/01/averatec-3700-12-inch-notebook-under-1000/

"I have a $670 Averatec from Sams Club at home. I am VERY dissaspoined with the quality. It has a VGA port, but only will display one at a time at full resolution. Also, when I got it, I had to replace the battery because it would only held a charge for 1 hour."

I'd try to sell it for 350,000 or best offer, if that seems high then start at 200 and go from there. The RAM seems very low.

Anyone else have one of these Korean built systems?

850,000 might be too high.

I saw new laptops at Technomart with 120GB going for that price.

Just to clarify I haven't asked gor 850K, I have asked for offers. The 850k price was someone throwing out a few figures (for new models, not the same as this one) to give people an idea of what this is worth.

If the effective capacity of the HDD is 71gb (as stated above), seems it would be the ED1 (80gb), with the DVD burner. No?

Depends, there is also "DVD player/CD burner combo". They could have replaced the hard drive or maybe even got it new with more space. However, in the seller's description, it doesn't list a DVD burner.
