I'm an Australian looking at moving to (or close to) Brisbane, and I would love some input about renting an appartment. I don't want to be too far from the CBD if possible. Being close to Universities isn't a consideration.
My absolute limit for a one bedroom place is AUS$150. But hopefully I'll be sharing a 2 bedroom if I can find a suitable housemate..

mashimaro - i grew up in brisbane... yu can find a one br place in that price range and area fairly easily. it depoends where yu want to live. your terms of reference are quite loose so all i can really give yu is a generally positive response.
take a look at http://www.realestate.com.au
if yu need to know where suburbs are there are various maps online. or ask me.
its a good town. |

I used to live in Brisbane and was paying I think $180AU for a 3 bedroom place that was usually less than 10 minutes drive to the city center.
You should be able to find something smaller and cheaper.
It's a surprsingly inexpensive state capital (but I haven't been there for 3 or 4 years now so it might be going upscale). But it's a really great place.
And...yes I was part of the Vic migration north. |

I'm near Brisbane right now, well on the Gold Coast about an hours south but I lived there for about 5 years.
Yoiu would find something in that price range very easily. The CBD would be a problem. Wha the best bet is to get about 15 minutes outside the city and live near a train station. There are some really nice 2 bedroom houses for about $180 to 200 a week. Suggested suburbs could be Stafford, Mitchelton, Taringa, Northgate. I favor the northsdie over the southside, a lot more relaxed.
PM me for more details. may be a bit hard to get a hold of due to where i am(internet is a little hard to get a hold of where I am) but I'll be on here for about twice a week. Have fun because the weather here is fantastic at the moment. |

Brisbane is a great city. Big though. You need a car for that one. Moreso than anywhere.
$150 for rent is tons. A really good place to live. If you are looking for some quiet and the sea is Wynnum. Bit dull during the nights but quiet and close to the water. $150 will get you a good place near the water.
Only thing is the commute to work. If you are in the city is around 30 minutes. Not far really. Not for peace like that. |
