Hi everyone,
I have a great 1.5 year old mini-pin that needs a home. I've had him for 3 months, but have recently picked up an additional evening job, so I'm just not home enough.
His name is Ya and he weighs about 6lbs. He is fixed and is up to date with all his shots and monthly heartworm, flea, etc... medication. He is house/crate trained and knows how to sit, stay, come, shake paw, etc. He will not walk though a door before you do, or rush you when you walk in the house and he asks before he comes on to the couch/bed.
He comes with a soft carrier, foldable metal crate, blanket, bowls, food, and treats. I also have the 'Dog Training For Dummies' book - thanks to which, he is very well trained. He is used to being walked two to three times a day, so please do not respond if you intend to keep him cooped up in an apartment 24/7.
He likes to sleep under the covers and will eat (not chew) all of your socks if you decided to leave them on the floor. This is a really great dog who deserves a really great home. Please PM me if you or anyone you know is interested.
I live in Cheonan, but providing you are a suitable doggy mommy or daddy, I will bring him anywhere in the ROK.

You actually walk(ed) your dog 2-3 times a day? Wow! You're going to have a hard time finding an owner that dedicated. I have a Yorkie and he's happy if I walk him 2-3 times a week. Why do you need to walk such a small dog so often? |

Gross, so your dog pisses inside? I walk my dogs about 5 or more times a day so that I never have to clean up inside.... |

Up until last week I took my dog everywhere, so he inevitably ended up being outside more than 3 times a day; though when I wansn't taking him out and about I would walk him, because I to don't want him doing 'his business' in the house.
At any rate, he's a great dog - so if we could stay on topic; he really needs a home. |

sorry, didn't meant to detract. Minipins are great and so much fun, real jokers, I hope you find a good home. Funny because I have a mini-pin cross and he insists on sleeping under the covers too. Ya sounds lovely, good luck with that! I know lots of doggy people so I'll keep an eye out in case anyone is interested. Is it urgent? |

The urgency of this matter is a combination of guilt and necessity. I would like to find him a home as soon as possible (as he cannot stay alone for 10+ hours a day), though I will surely keep him until his future home is secured. |

The mini-pin we had was a royal pain in the ass.
If ever there were a "princess" dog, that would be it. The one we had (and got rid of) required constant attention to the point of it being insane. I couldn't sit anywhere without her demanding that she be in my lap. If she wasn't in my lap, she would yip and keep attempting to jump on my leg continually until I let her up. She wouldn't let me leave the house without her scratching at the door and barking for at least an hour. They are notorious for not becoming potty-trained, and being extremely energetic.
Not all pins are quite that bad, but you have to be a serious dog lover to stand a dog like a pin, and it's preferable to have another playmate dog for your pin to be around. I think pins should only be around people who:
1. Are able to be with them at all times.
2. Have another dog around for them to play with.
Do some pretty serious research before adopting any animal just because it's cute. Pins are really cute -- beyond cute -- but like a really cute girl, can be an absolute princess nightmare. |

Though I appreciate your input; everyone please make note, this DOES NOT describe my dog at all.
If the person who is lucky enough to adopt Ya is around all the time or has another dog for him to play with, that would be great. Though I think this would serve to ease my mind, not make him any more of a great dog.
At any rate, he's a great dog - so if we could stay on topic; he really needs a home. |

This is a tell-tell sign of an unexperienced dog owner. Although I will agree that Min-pins, like Yorkies, are hard to house train, NO dog naturally needs to be that needy. Undoubtedly, this dog was treated like a princess, hence why it acted like one. When a dog yips for constant attention, the worst thing you can do is to pick him/her up as this enforces the behavior. It's just like the child who screams at the supermarket. The mom or dad gives in when the child screams to avoid public humiliation. The child picks up on the behavior and learns that's how she or he gets what he or she wants. Dogs are the same way. You pick up the dog because you don't want to hear it yip. He/she learns that when he/she yips, he/she gets picked up. It's as simple as that. This behavior, once cemented, could take as long as 6 months of consistency to get rid of.
Ya seems to have been trained properly. Speaking as an owner of a 1.1kilo yorkshire terrier, I would not place him any type of home that wants a "cute cuddly thing that I could take everywhere and sleep with". |

It was an abandoned dog.
I agree -- it was trained poorly. I didn't have the desire to spend such extensive amounts of time catering to it, cleaning up after it, etc., to give it the "proper" training.
I only had it long enough to find it a proper owner. |

So then, if you never had any intention of adequately training the dog, it is hardly the fault of the dog is it?
You come onto a forum saying that a Min Pin is a terirble dog and then admit that it was an abandoned dog and that could be where its bad habits come from.
HMMMM a dog abandoned on the street has a sense of NEED to be near people. Theres a wired case there eh?
Why are you bitching abot how bad a min pin is when by your on admission you were an indifferent in intolerant foster parent.
Shut up so this lady can try and find Ya a good home. |

My wife and I are potentially interested in Ya. We are located in Ulsan. My wife is home all day. I am only gone for about 7-8 hours per day when I am teaching. It would be good for my wife to spend time with the dog. She is on a dep. visa and cannot work. Do you have any photos of the dog? We have been looking for a small dog anyway, so it would be good to give a good dog a home. We both have experience with dogs. We have had a Shit-zhu and a Lhasa Apso previously. There are plenty of parks and green areas near our home to walk the dog and go out and play! I hope to hear from you soon. Please send me a PM and I will provide you with my phone number/email address for follow-up.
Cheers! |

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread, even those who had nothing good to say; you kept my search for Ya's new home at the top of the list .
I have contacted losing_touch and hopefully everything will work out. Thanks again. |
