McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

He was also fairly emotional when he shoved the mother of an MIA who was in a wheelchair.

You gotta appreciate the economy of Joo's delivery, though.

With George Bush, the mantra was 9/11, 9/11, 9/11.

With John McCain the mantra is POW, POW, POW.

Here, read this:

There are other people in the world with disabilities, some far more limiting than McCain's. The governor of New York is blind.

McCain has been criticized for not using the internet ( by Obama's own campaign) This puts it in context.

At any rate McCain has a better resume than does Mr. Obama.

So he's too injured to type on a computer, but perfectly fine to serve as the leader of the free world. Got it!

FDR was not in very good physical condition. He managed okay.

By the way before McCain was hurt by the Vietnamese he could fly a jet.

Obama can't fly a jet.

Had I been writing those ads, I would have avoided referencing McCain's lack of computer expertise. It's likely to alienate people who, for whatever reason, are also choosing to remain off-line.

I never even got an e-mail account until I was in my early 30s, in 2001, at a point where the internet had been in wide use for roughly a decade. And the only reason I got it, originally, was because I needed to communicate with my recruiter in Korea. Had I not come to Korea, it's possible that I never would have gotten on-line. That's just the kind of guy I am.

I get that the Democrats are marketting themselves to the techno-savvy office types this time around, but there should be a way to do that without appearing to ridicule those who choose not to use certain forms of communication.

ROFL. Even Bush could fly a jet!

Yeah, I think Joo and OTOH are right. Attacking McCain's internet savvy isn't going to win Obama many more votes.

For the record, I thought the pro-Obama ad by Planned Parenthood was much more effective...

Doesn't McCain want our children to protect themselves from sex offenders?

Hats off to Planned Parenthood if they can make that the question around the water coolers Monday morning!

I agree. Who's going to make a decision on the next president based on whether he can or can't use a computer? I'm barely able to use a computer and I'm voting for Obama. What does that say? Actually, nothing at all.

The Obama campaign is not impressing me with some of their choices in how to spend their money and getting their message out. This particular one makes me think the campaign is out of touch with a lot of people over about 35 or 40 years old.

McCain couldn't land. He also can't high five world leaders, a prerequisite for any American president. Cruise/Travolta 2008?

Unsportsmanlike conduct. Fifteen yards.

Quote:
Like many of his generation, McCain does not like to talk details a lot about his wartime experiences, certainly not about any lingering physical symptoms. To be honest, it could sound like complaining and, as he's ruefully noted, unlike many others, McCain did come home.

The former pilot does joke sometimes about flying his plane into a telephone-pole-sized North Vietnamese missile.

Excellent point. How about JFK, while we are at it? And does anyone here believe that either FDR or JFK were skilled or even semi-skilled typists? "Throughout his early life, John Fitzgerald Kennedy seemed an unlikely prospect for national and international leadership..."

JFK and Addison's

By the way, I saw this ad. Another sickening and insensitive leftist assault. This one will almost certainly, if not alienate, then at least humiliate those who, for whatever reason, do not understand or fear computers and the net. I knew some in surveillance, in fact. Terrified by writing. And let us not even get into senior citizens generally, who join J. McCain in being, by B. Obama's harsh reckoning, old and obsolete.

Issue-oriented indeed.
