Please explain why there is a need on the Current Events forum for a thread on a man who's been dead for most of a decade. |

The whiny critics sound like bigger *beep* than he
in fact, Trudeau is classic Trudeau in a good way in that video:
"I moved my lips and moved my hands in a gesture of derision, yes... these guys are so sensitive... I didn't say anything"
As for the guy who said he is disappointed because he used to "love and worship" Diefenbaker, well whip-de-do...., or better: fuddle duddle! |

He looks like an evil character from a Pink Pather movie. |

I can understand worshipping Diefenbaker, but Pearson used an outside power to against his rival, Diefenbaker. He enlisted the help of Kennedy. I don't respect that kind of thing. As far as Trudeau using profanities, he shouldn't have, if he did, but Bush says that all the time, and the Conservatives, as of late, in Canada, have had so many mishaps with words they shouldn't have said. Didn't a communications minister resign recently? |

Trudeau had more style and brains in his little finger than you've got in your whole body, fiveeagles. |

It's Jean Cretin that I could never stand. His only greatness was at surviving through possessing a calculated, disarming sense of harmlessness: Mr. Do-Nothing, Say Whatever. A true politician in the worst sense. The eel should've rotted as a backbencher. |

anti-crime, anti-terrorist, not flipped out about "people with guns"...
Keeps his cool, too; doesn't talk over the guy; lets the guy get a word in edgewise, have his say. And still wipes the floor with him.

Confident, competent, principled... an incredible interview: the right leader for the time that it was then
He gets better and better toward the end of that 6-minute impromptu curbside interview:
"There's a lot of bleeding hearts around who just don't like to see people with helmets and guns. All I can say is go on and bleed. But it's more important to keep law and order in this society than to be worried about weak-kneed people..." |

Can you imagine Trudeau v. Bush II?
Sorry 5 eagles, does Trudeau offend your delicate sensibilities? Is your nappy wet? |

It's funny, though. Trudeau generally gets talked up as this cool, free-thinking, free-wheeling, progressive type dude. And yet few of his left-leaning admirers spend much time talking about the October Crisis, beyond revelling in the supposed daring of his "Just Watch Me" taunt. This is probably because the War Measures Act basically resulted in a bunch of leftists being thrown in jail without charges.
Some more quotes from that saintly progressive...
Quote: |
April 3: The campaign goes badly. 밊armers are professional complainers,?Mr. Trudeau tells Quebec agriculture students. 밯hen there is too much sun, they complain. When there is too much rain, they complain. A farmer is a complainer.?A few days later, he advises critics in Vancouver to stop drinking, 밽et off your ass?and do an honest day's work.
|
(Sorry about the hangul. That last line is supposed to read "Get off your ass and do an honest day's work".)
Quote: |
March 19: 밒 can hardly blame the U.S. and other NATO countries for saying that, while we talk disarmament, we must also show the Soviet Union that we can meet them gun for gun,?Mr. Trudeau tells university students.
|
Ronald Reagan couldn't have put it better himself.
And for the record, the first jurisdiction in North America to decriminalize homosexuality was Illinois, in 1963. But Trudeau's admirers credit him as the trailblazer because he came up with a snappy quip to go with the legislation.
