I'm buying a Sony Laptop. The shop said I must bring English Windows for them to install.
I've heard bad stories about Vista, so I'll stick with XP.
Where could I get XP in English?
Thanks! |

You mean you want to pay for a legal copy?
That's tragic.

I picked one up at Johnny Computer in Itaewon next to the Smoky Saloon. He's closed on Sundays. |

Thanks tatu. I live in Busan but if I go to Seoul I'll try them.
Trevor I do want an original legal copy so that I can get the updates. I've used pirated versions for years and they've always given problems. Or maybe I've assimilated too much Korean culture |

I have a pirated version of XP and it causes me no problems at all. I can download all of the updates and it runs perfectly. |

But not everyone has that experience. It's a bit hit and miss with pirated OS's and you never know when MS will update and detect your non legit OS.
IMO since the OS is so critical to the whole experience, I'd rather get it right. You're free to do it your way.
To the OP. You can buy unopened versions of XP at Yongsan. Ask around. Someone will have it. And yes the shop should provide an English OS for you, or at least an equivalent discount. If they don't go somewhere else. I'm pretty sure that you can get English XP installed for you legit like from some vendors. |
