Does anyone have any information regarding the Yonsei Global MBA program? For example, costs, time of day (on weekend), quality of program internationally, experiences at the University of Washington program, etc.? |

Just going out on a limb here, but I guess Yonsei might have some of that information. |

If you are looking into MBA's in Korea, you should also look at SNU and Korea University. It should bring about a rather interesting comparison between them all.
Can you post some information about the Yonsei program when you find it? |

Yonsei has the best program hands down, IMHO, along with more international affiliations and more international recognition. A lot of students transfer from SNU and Korea if they can get into the Yonsei program.
Korea U. is coming on strong, but I think SNU tends to rest on its domestic reputation. |

PRagic,
SNU has 2 different MBA programs; the SNU MBA and the new Global MBA, which started in 2007 I think.
The Global MBA also has a partnership with Duke University where you can go on exchange after your 12 months in the SNU program. I'm curious about who the strongest partner is that Yonsei has?
The Global MBA program is taught 100% in English and by all foreign profs many of whom are not Korean. In addition, every single one of them is from a huge-named school.
I'm not defending this Global MBA program at SNU, but I'm curious why you say the Yonsei one is so much better.
I'm curious what Yonsei charges as tuition. SNU charges 60,000,000 won for 12 months.
The original SNU MBA program only charges 40,000,000 and is only 25% in English.
Oh, and reading about MBA programs online, I tend to read a lot more about Korean's MBA program than Yonsei's. I also read that a ranking system used in Korea ranked Korea University's MBA as the #1 available.
Just curious why you say Yonsei's is so good. |

What are the costs associated with the MBA programs?
I hate how each school's websites give little to no information on the tuition rates. |

I can't find any prices for Yonsei, but it does appear to have a much wider list of partner schools for exchanges, including a couple good options in the USA. Granted, they are exchanges, but not dual-degrees. Yonsei offers a dual-degree program with the University of Washington in Seattle.
One part of the site says they have a partnership with Northwestern but then on the online brochure there is no mention of Northwestern and instead they mention Columbia. It seems they deal with both, it's just not clear how they are affiliated.
Yonsei claims to have the oldest MBA program in the country, which would obviously explain their larger variety of school relationships. However, I've never seen the Yonsei MBA ranked on a global ranking system. I am curious to see where SNU goes with their Global MBA program, as they started out right away with a Duke partnership and seem to be very aggressive in promoting their GMBA program to international recognition.
If anyone has any price information about Yonsei's MBA it would be cool to hear some numbers. |

Cool. It would appear that you've answered most of your own questions. A phone call to the univeresity or a web site check will probably give you the tuition info you seek.
All I know, like I said, is that Yonsei has been in the game longer, has a bang up faculty, and a load of international connections. SNU also has an international grad school, but it's reputation has long been in the dumps. Korea U. is coming on strong.
The Global MBA at SNU, like KA said, is new and still in the works. Great. But I know quite a few people from Yonsei who have gone on to do their Ph.D.s at big schools, and/or who work for great companies, NGOs, and governments. The current Dean of the Yonsei program is a Harvard grad and very active in the development of the program. I've been to some of their functions and have been impressed. |

I will inquire shortly about tuition costs for Yonsei. Years ago, I checked out SNU's MBA program. Wasn't too impressed. Perhaps their new program has been updated and revised. I can't believe the costs quoted here. Astronomical.
If completing the Yonsei MBA, I have considered finishing the MBA at the University of Washington, if an evening course is provided (to have a dual-degree). However, for employment purposes (here or abroad) is it ESSENTIAL to have both? Can't one just indicate, joint program Yonsei University (Korea)/University of Washington?
Has anyone taken an on-line MBA program that is reputable? Ideally, one that doesn't indicate "on-line" on the actual degree. Any information on an on-line MBA degree with Nottingham Trent University with off-line classes in Seoul? Credibility, reputation, etc. Thanks again. |

Indiana University has a well-respected on-line that doesn't state such, but the cost is insane because most folks are having their company pay. They actually give you a discount after completing a certain number of credits if your employer isn't paying.
I've been looking at Auburn University's program which is more reasonable. It has a summer resident portion, but seemed doable during vacations here.
Most schools in the US that have on-line and classroom programs don't designate on the diploma, that's what makes the online programs attractive. |

Any more advice on possible on-line reputable MBA programs? Has anyone completed the Yonseit Global MBA program?
There was an extensive thread on MBA programs (starting a few years back). I can't locate it on the search function, could someone kindly provide the link for me? Thanks! |

Just my personal opinion, but I wouldn't recommend an online-MBA program unless you have extensive experience already.
If you are just there to get the letters, then go for it. But as an employer I wouldn't perceive an online MBA the same as a real offline one.
MBA isn't like undergrad, or at least it shouldn't be. I think bachelors degrees can be done online and it doesn't make much difference. However, if there is a significant component of an MBA done online, I believe your resume had better be SET before you take the course.
Also, if you really are going to look into an online MBA, then you'd better look into how they go about recruiting. Don't expect employers to be dealing with a whole class of students individually by emails and over webcams. I also doubt you'll be grabbing flights to the university every time a company sets up an information day.
All of that is just my opinion. |
