Isaac Durst, the energetic host of EBS TVs English Cafe, escaped from his cage on the EBS studios backlot late last Wednesday evening. As of the time of this articles publishing, he is still on the loose. His keepers suspect he was able to climb up the rope on his tire swing, jump onto the wire fence that runs alongside his wading pool, and then scale the fence to freedom.
I just dont understand why he would want to escape, said EBSs veteran caucasian handler Lee Soomin. He always seemed so happy when he was on the show. Always smiling and dancing and doing whatever we told him. Sure, sometimes he would sulk and fling his feces at us, but wed just feed him a few hamburgers and hed be back to his normal self again.
Authorities are particularly concerned because Isaac has miraculously learned how to speak Korean almost like a real human being. There is a concern that he might be able to use this ability to establish a bank account or have sexual relations with a Korean woman.
I dare not think about what kind of hideous man-beast would be born if he managed to impregnate a Korean woman, said Deputy Police Chief Lee Woosuk. The important thing is we bring him back to his pen where he belongs.
If confronted with Isaac, Koreans are encouraged to speak to him in a sing-song voice and repeatedly ask him, Hi, how are you? It is estimated that if not showered with attention, he will shrivel up and die within 48 hours.
Lee Soomin, the handler, just hopes that Durst is found. I remember the day we got him. I told the trapper that I wanted one with blue eyes, curly hair, and the biggest nose he could find. We got Durst and he was just perfect.

Or you could just read the date on the link you posted genius. |
But I posted this up people who have a life like myself. People who are not on the 'net every single waking minute - unlike you!
You read it two years ago - good for you - carry on! |

Classic funny post and veteran haters.
If you've already read the damn thing, don't open it, sillies!
Although I too have already read the story, I enjoyed reading it again. |

I did a google search. Ah, I've always wondered his name. Do you think he has a lot of luck with the women here? He's obviously a clown, but at least he's a well-known clown. |

I've heard lots of K women say he's handsome - which he isn't. It's one of those Asian/Caucasian things - what we think is ugly, they think he is hot and visa versa. |

I just saw him on TV a little while ago. I can't stand him. STOP OVER ACTING!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE STOP!!!! If all the people on the show were all over acting, I wouldn't care. I probably think it was stupid, but at least every one would be over acting, so it would fair. However he is the only one that over acts. For heaven's sake learn some self respect and dignity, Isaac. |

Sorry if you have already read this R-Seoul - it is from last year! Please pray for my forgivness next time you are at chapel!
Almost 16 years have passed since Isaac Durst arrived at Gimpo Airport in Korea. But in that time, the unique and friendly American with a big nose and big feet has become one of the countrys most-watched English instructors.
Durst, who graduated with a degree in English Literature from the University of California, Berkeley, had not thought he would *settle in Korea even though he had a Korean-American *stepmother and was familiar with the country. But he soon became fond of the unique Korean culture and found it difficult to leave.
When foreigners taste Korean culture, they will experience an *unexplainable attraction similar to when a person eats kimchi for the first time, Durst told The Junior Herald in an exclusive interview. There is a lot of potential in Korea and Koreans should show more of it to the world, I think.
His powerful energy, especially in entertaining, led him onstage in 1999 to perform in a local performance of the musical The Fantasticks. This show brought attention to Durst and broadcasters asked the promising English teacher to help with their TV and radio English programs.
Durst soon became well known for his humor and rose as a star instructor, publishing more than 20 books on the English language in Korea. He also met his wife in Korea and graduated from a masters course at Yonsei University. He is now a CEO of an education company.
I think people learn better when they are laughing. I want people to *associate learning with joy, said Durst.
Durst also shared his special tip for learning English with readers of The Junior Herald, Have a sense of balance and yeoyu and enjoy English-related hobbies with a long-term view.

something that he once said doesn't make sence to me -
The great thing about Korea is that theyre so forgiving. If I spoke incorrect English in New York, I'd hear, 'Hey, man, where are you from?' But here, even if all I say is kamsa hamnida, Koreans give me praise for trying to speak their language. And so I can learn every day, because I'm willing to make mistakes and sound stupid if that's what it takes.
from my experience - you can speak perfect Korean here - and Koreans - still make out as if they can't understand your "Englishee" - although you are actually speaking Korean... |

If I imitate the person who taught me the word exactly, I find everyone understands. Tone, inflection, everything the same. |
